Our RS ekkie George is a stellar talker - and he just loves to sing. Since adopting him nearly a year ago, I've been trying to get him on video - and finally succeeded y'day.

Pavarotti cannot hold a candle to George the Great!

That was so cute and funny, that my husband wanted to know why I was laughing and came over and snatched the headphones away from me!:funny:

Good job, George!

Liz, that is awesome! I always say lalalala to Mister when he is making an undesirable noise like screaming...he still hasn't repeated it though :)

I'm glad you got a kick out of it. Thought it might give you a giggle.

His first owner taught him to sing the "la-la-la-la-la" chorus to the Minnie Ripperton song "Loving You Is Easy Cuz You're Beautiful" - he does all the "lalala" parts of it - from start to finish. Haven't heard him do the whole thing for a while - it's hysterical when he does it.

I've been trying to teach him to sing the Aria from "Madama Butterfly" - and the singing in this video is partway between that and Minnie Ripperton. George is starting to improvise more.

We are his third family. His first owner had to give him up - and he went to live with the family who owns "Riley" (you may have seen/heard about Riley's videos on YouTube). He was there 4 or 5 months, I think - but they weren't able to keep him (illness in the family - very sad). Then his first family contacted me and asked me to adopt him about a year ago.

I'm hoping to get some video of him talking - he really is very clear when he talks and has an amazing range of things that he says (my favorite is apparently from a telephone conversation - he does his first owner's voice and just her "side" of what sounds like a complete conversation).

Start leaving your camera in plain view... maybe he'll start ignoring it, and then? BAM! Singing video! :D

Y'day he was sooooooo vocal. Until I turned the camera on. :-(

Finally, I turned it on and let it run for quite a while - he talked a little, but not a whole lot. I spliced/trimmed the videos and loaded them up:

It's really not representative of how much he says - but it's a start.

Loreena McKennitt?

What a beautiful voice your little George has! I love how he says his name, too! "Hello Joooooh-ge!"

Loreena McKennitt?...

Yes. George just goes wild for her music. He also likes "Celtic Women" - esp. their rendition of "Danny Boy." Enya also scores big points with him - but at the moment Loreena is tops.

He was talking quite well long before he came to live with me a year ago. I'll keep working with him and try to get him past this camera-shyness. I've also recently gotten a slightly better video camera and am hoping the videos with that one will have better sound on them (but I have to get better at using it...).
