Hi all, another month older, another month closer to christmas

(super duper eh)

It's brighter this morning, not sure if tis going to be a nice weekend or not. don't think it will be particularly hot though.

SUE have you a got an 'Everythingforbirds.com' Brochure (boddy & ridewood)
Becuase they make aviarys apparantly, you can email them but the email is in the brochure which I left at home..

Hope everyone has a good day.

Sue

Kristie, you get earlier:rotflmao:
No I don't have that brochure, sorry. Can't you link to email on their website:confused:

I can't believe it's July already, where does the time go, I think it's something to do with getting older.:funny:

I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend, it looks like the weather may be OK for Dave's outdoor gig tomorrow, I think we'll have to celebrate Independance Day for you lot in the US then. I'm going to take my camera:agree:

Have a great Friday and weekend everyone:dance:

OH thanks for that Sue!!
We find they're cheaper than Northern parrots for some things....and they got a few different things.
You know Nutriberries aren't available anymore due to import laws - Do you know anything about that, is that situation going to change? Basil & bob loved them!

Sue

We tried them but Toto could take or leave them. Why are they banned, do you know?

Re aviary panels, there's a place in Barnsley, South Yorks who do reasonably priced ones. I got his card at the last Stafford show I went to, I'll see if I can find it.

Hi Everyone I hope you are enjoying the 1st of the month , the rain finally stopped here and a sunny (but cold) week-end is predicted ..

The renovations are slowly moving ahead , still plumbing and electrical work to be finished off Monday the the builders need to water proof everything and the tilers are booked for Friday (8th) so I hope it go`s to plan ..Monday all the fittings and tiles are being delivered and Joe is moving the car out of his side of the garage , isn`t he sweet..:agree: ..
No special plans for the weekend , will just enjoy not having builders and workmen around (after Saturday morning the electricians are coming back in the morning to do a bit for a few hours:rolleyes: )..
We also exchange contracts on Monday for the investment home we purchaced, so thats a bit exciting I guess Monday afternoon we will be showing it to the folks and a few friends...
I hope you all enjoy your day and the coming weekend for now I am tired (its tiring having people in the house all day) :shrug2: and I didn`t even do anything excepot cook a pot of lamb stew Yum !! and there is plenty left over for the weekend...:woot: I even took some down to the folks this evening to check on Mum , she is doing O.K and has another blood test Wednesday to see if the level is staying up , fingers crossed it doesn`t drop again ..:highfive:
Goodnight All I chat again over the weekend ...:wavey:

Good morning....:)

Odd about the Nutriberries.... i wonder why they can't be imported anymore?

My birds all love them, they get them as treats and go bonkers over them, it would be rough on them if they weren't available anymore over here.

Something to do with new government legislation on the import of *fresh* foods. since they are not exactly fresh I don't quite understand.

icebear - they are produced in the USA so no problem for you, it is here in the UK we can't get them right now.

Good Morning Everyone! I am here in Kansas and having a good time, except for the mosquitos and the humidity. The mosquitos are quite persistent! UGH! The humidity is much higher than Idaho and my lungs are not appreciating it. When I was a boy and teenager living here, we did not have high humidity...in fact...it was low! The weather is forecast to reach near 100 degrees on Sunday. Yuck!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hey Bill.

Is Kansas in the south (ish) ?? don't like the sound of the moszies - get yourself a repellent spray (you can buy chemical free one's you know, which are safe around birds I would think)

humidity is stifling isn't it, feels like there's no air.

YAY, Happy Friday all!:wavey:

Good morning Kristie, You're quite busy this morning, Good luck on your aviary search.

Sue, I agree.. the older I get the faster time goes. Maybe it has something to do with being busy all the time and not noticing the time?:scratchch

Good night, Majj. I hope your renovations continue to go as planned. Fingers crossed for your mom.

Good morning, Icebear.:)

Hi Bill, I wonder what is causing all the humidity build up in Kansas? You wouldn't think that state would be that humid, sitting there in the plains. Now, if you were down here in Florida with us, you'd really find out what humidity is. You'll know a Floridian by their gills. We need them to breath the wet air.

No big plans for the weekend. We don't like the crowds and such so won't be seeking out any festivities. There's enough people in our neighborhood that will give us quite a fireworks show on their own. They've been "practicing" all week.:funny:

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.:highfive:

Mornin' All!:wavey:
Whew! midnites are over with, and i found i get a extra day off, 4 instead of three!and still get paid for the holiday,,,,yippee!
Took the truck in for some work, trans flush, fuel system cleaning, and threw a rotate/balance on the tires for good measure(figure i'd treat the truck to some goodies, 2003 model year, and it just turned 100,000 miles)
Getting new shocks installed on weds, after a lil bit of shopping around ,found out i can get them installed for free, and still $10 cheaper for each shock, than if i went to the auto parts and got them , and installed myself!(pays to shop around i suppose;) )the first place i checked(the place i had the other work done at) quoted over $120 more than the latest place i found,,,,for the same brand/model shocks!

After the dogs n fish are attended to, i plan on some quality time in the bird room, just kind of hang out with them for a spell, and let them have a lil fun, and give them all a spray/bath b4 i clean cages,,two-fold reason here, they have a good ol time, and it keeps the dust down when i clean,,,

Kristie, That's strange about the Nutraberries thing,,w/the ban and all,,
will ask Lafeber's about this when i call them up and order my stuff from them.(pellets and n-berries)BTW: i get them at wholesale pricing, and in 20# boxes:clap: :D WAY cheaper than getting the smaller tubs at the stores,,,,,
Always helps to cut costs when ever you can,,,,,;)

Well, off to start my long weekend around here,
Hope everyone has a great day, and a safe and fun holiday!:wavey:

again on the nutriberries, i looked over the label on the tub and it dosen't even say "fresh" on it anywhere. i was thinking that might have something to do with it if Lafeber described it as a "fresh" product themselves, but they don't seem to do it even to claim a selling point.
kinda like how (if i remember right)tomatoes are a veggie according to import/export laws and are then subject to veggie tax since fruit tax dosen't (or didn't at the time that distinction was made) exist. i thought maybe if the Lafeber Co wanted to classify it fresh some government rule would take advantage of that as they seem to do quite often lol

Anyway, just letting my brain run its course

That would be cool Jeff, I'm interested to know why - something to do with good old DEFRA (Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) I believe they are the government organisation which deals with the import of food

Hey do you wanna get me some and mail them to me  Only kidding they'd probably get stopped at customs

I was thinking the other day though, there are things that you guys can't get that we can in UK and visa versa (mainly the reverse I guess) We could get stuff for each other and mail it - I'd be happy to send any of you guys something 'English' that isn't available to you over there
but the trouble is, payment I guess. I mean it's no issue if it's something small but isn't it annoying the whole currency thing?? a cheque in UK £s is no use to you any more than one is in USD for me  unless anyone has a paypal account - is there a way round this:confused: , I dunno.. just thinking, - it could be helpful for all of us. I know Majj has said she can't get half the stuff we can for her boys (you know, like toys and stuff)
what do you reckon?

So they call tomatoes a veggie just to get tax on them when they are really a fruit:confused: Sounds like this country, they would tax fresh air if they could tell how much we all use:roflmao2:

Cool idea Kristie:cool: Shirley wanted to send me some flower seeds and I was going to send her some Yorshire goodies (oops she didn't know) but didn't cos of the strange laws, have you ever seen where you can't bring in fresh stuff or plants and then sell them at the airport. I think Dave has some dealings wth DEFRA at work, there is a way round it, you can import the raw materials and make your own, so I suppose if someone crunched up the bag they are no longer Nutriberries. If I have some Kristie , i'll send them to you, ours dont like them.

that and they'd be hard pressed (pun nominally intended) to convince anyone that bashed up bird food can be classified as "fresh" :roflmao2:

...wonder if mebbe its cause the import/export peoples think that nutriberrys are some sort of hybrid fruit... like a mullberry crossed with an elderberry

i wonder if Captain CrunchBerries are banned from export....?

(sorry, just riding this runaway train of thought till it crashes)

Though I'd hop on this train too. Possibly they can't be imported anymore because someone saw the word berries, and considered them fresh fruit. I know if we travel to somewhere outside the States, you aren't allowed to bring back so much as a banana!
They are afraid that insects (or their eggs), or maybe some type of seed dust not native to this country might be carried in, and then destroy what we have here. It's happened in the States and other countries, and now everyone is up in arms about it.
I don't remember where I read about this, maybe on the last cruise we took to the Caribbean.

I went to the get together for my class (1982) and I had a great time!!! It was like old times! They were surprised that I got a doctorate but boy did I get twenty questions such as, "What is that?" "Why do they do that?" etc. HEHE! A storm rolled in just as it was coming to a close. Tomorrow we are having a parade and then a BBQ followed by a dance.

Kristie...Kansas is not really considered in the South but it has become more "southern" as the years have passed by. I got some insect repellant.

Vickie...I don't understand why the climate changed here. It was known as the Dust Bowl in the years gone by. Go figure!

Hope everyone is doing well and having a safe weekend!
