Had to move cages today (added a new flight cage and thus needed to rearrange the 'bird room' - which is a corner of the back three-season sun room with a portable heater to maintain 70 degrees).
Anyhow during the move, the Bourke hen left her nest to see what was going on, so I checked the nest box.
Think there are three chicks (hard to tell in the 'pile') and three eggs in the nest. This is only day 19 so I expect more to hatch. I also know I have a fertile pairing!
The male was very protective and guarded the nest diligently during the move.
The hen returned to the nest as soon as I closed the nest box. I am very pleased with the new parents.
