I was taking pics of the pond at night... and Holly gave me this look of...what about me? So I put her in the Maple tree and took about 25 pics. These are a couple of my favorites. It was her first nighttime photo session -- she spooked only a little when I moved a branch out of the way.

I'm about 7 ft away from her and have the flash intensity turned down quite a bit. The limb she's standing on is completely bare for the most part because it's their "chewing branch"! :)
Absolutely adorable!!! They are both beautiful but, I love the natural "miss priss" pose of the second one.
:thanx: for sharing the pics!

Thanks, Jean -- the first one is my favorite of all of them... the slight tilt of her head and look in her eye... so you like the second one... it's my favorite of all the "back views" I took! :) We gotta take Elvie's pics at night!
He would look good in some night pics as white as he is, especially if we had a good floral background and captured just a little color with the black and white.
I do love the expression in the first one but, the suave expression in the second one is a rare expression to capture. She, like Elvie poses for the camera. They seem to both love to pose.
I can't choose a favourite I LOVE them both:emot-danc

Hmmmm.... I see what you mean, Jean. I'm seeing it this morning differently from last night... a more reflective look.... and yes, she and Elvie do pose similarly! Calm and assured, and both secure in knowing how -- what's the word... they have "presence".
Now... to get them both together... wouldn't that be a lovely composition!
Thanks!

WOW! Shirley, both of these pictures are georgous!!! I LOVE them! I like the look of Holly in the second picture and Holly's face, posture, especially her eyes. Something about her eyes in the first picture that I keep going back to look at them. Please tell her she has beautiful eyes!

Great pics as usual Shirley! :goodjob:
The first one threw me, it looked like a bullseye over Holly, the second pic showed better the copyright you had put on the pic,,,

haha! I feel sorry for the guy who puts a bull's eye on Holly! He'll have to eat my bullets! :rotflmao:
I tell Holly daily that she has beautiful everything!
Steve hollers across the room to her "Is Holly a pretty girl?" and she gives out a long melodious wolf whistle! He taught her that, and yet she won't allow him to touch her... but she'll step up for him. "Just don't touch me."
Yoshi... good reason... leaving a grey is not a good thing... but going to college is a very good thing ... wait --- it's worth the wait. I've wanted a grey since I was in my mid-20's... and didn't get Holly 'til 'bout a quarter century later...

Hi Shirley,
I forgot to ask, from the 2nd pic, is the long dark grey feather the wing feather? I looked at Oliver's and his was not that long. Does it mean that Holly can fly? Pardon my ignorance.
Thank you very much.

Yes, it's one of her primary flights. No, she cannot fly... she's clipped, but has a primary grown in on each side. Once she even gets close to being airborne...she'll be grounded again! :)
