The other day i wen't over to give my Bourkes some millet spray, and not thinking about the nest box anymore, didn't look to see who was where, well to my surprise one of the males jumped out of the box.
I was really surprised, but shouldn't it have been the Hen  and I guess I scared him to hear the door open when he finally got in that nest, hope that doesn't stop him from investigating ,wish it was the Hen:shrug:

Have you sexed your birds? It's not impossible for the male to jump out... but seriously... do you know for sure you have a pair?

Maybe you should post the test results on the wall behind the cage... just for some inspiration... (and a reminder to them)...:foot-tap:
Just sayin'.....

scotty,
my young males will often investigate the nest box first. when he feels it is a good nesting area he then usually sit right outside the opening and makes various calls and motions to try to intice the female up there to take a look. she may not be interested immediately but most of the time she'll let her curiosity get the best of her and join him. good luck!
right now my one pair are begging me for the nest box. when i let them out to fly around, while i clean the cage and feed them, the male goes over to an african finger piano that i have(the finger piano is just a hollowed out gourd with some metal strips on it and there is a hole from where it was hollowed) and he will sit on it, give it the old eyeball and start to do the calls and such..... but by that time the cage is ready for them to go back into. once they see the food all else can wait!:rotflmao:
