Our forum software was recently upgraded - and one of the new features is "networking" in the usercp (user control panel).
Under "networking", you have three items:
Contacts & Friends
Social Groups
Pictures & Albums
UNDERSTAND that nothing you send or receive in these areas is private.
If you add friends and then write to one another, anyone able to view your member info can read your notes to your friends.
UNDERSTAND that if you create a Social Group, nothing you post to that group is private. It can be viewed by anyone who views your member info.
Notice that when a Social Group is created, there are three choices:
Public
Invite Only
Moderated
None of these choices keeps the messages posted to the Social Group private. They do, however, restrict who may post to the group. Reading the FAQ linked in the menu bar of the forum will give you further information on this.
Members can view any member's info after they post a certain number of times. I don't know how many that is, but I think it's 10, maybe 20 posts.
We are not able to turn this feature off, so please use it with the understanding that it is not private the way one might think it would be.
Your PM's (Private Messages) ARE private - to everyone, including the admin/mod team.
Pictures & Albums -- This is a nice feature for uploading photos that are viewed as thumbnails, and then expand to larger photos when selected by a member viewing your pictures. You can create albums of photos for each pet, bird, family member, whatever you wish to upload for other members of the forum to see.
Thank you,
The BoF Admin/Mod Team :)
