I saw the most beautiful pair of canaries for sale at the fair yesterday - Zebra red (or was it Red Zebra) they were gorgeous! The male was a deep red-orange with brown zebra stripes throughout, and the female was lighter of the same. $150 for the pair. Didn't get them, but thought of you. Didn't have my camera or I'd have taken pics for you.
Can't find any pics doing a google image search, either.

Wow....I've never even heard of that mutation! Were they a mule-variety canary? Or 100% canary? *runs off to google!*
ETA: Do you know if it's an actual strain? Or more of a pattern that's found within another mutation (ie. a certain pattern of variegation as opposed to a true-breeding strain)???

Kinda like that in color, Elise, but VERY stripey...
If we didn't have so many birds--- I'd have been tempted. We we seriously have too many to spend more time--

I love the Lizards! When I first got canaries I considered them, but I thought I might like to breed and people seem to go for bright reds and yellow instead of awesome patterns :( I liked Reds anway, so I figured I would go with the type that's easiest to place if needed.

I said to breed "bright colors" and "cool patterns"... Red and yellow make orange, yes... I'm an artist and a painter, I know! ;) you saying orange isn't a bright colour?

To be honest, I have NO idea what you're talking about... :shrug2:
At all... :shrug2:
Green and gray make a khaki type yucky green
Gray and Yellow, too... just more yellow-ish
yellow and blue make green
green and yellow and blue make green
Gray and blue make a dull type blue... kinda cloudy...

I was just hoping for: Coco is green, Sammy is yellow and gray, and Strider is yellow and blue. The Diva does not like the terms "khaki" or "yucky green"!:funny: (But, at least you offered to be a good friend a fid-sit... unlike Jim who's not willing to drive 10 hours twice a day...) pfft!

Oh, I thought you were asking about colour mixes, since your previous post said "red and yellow make orange"... I can play colour association, too, but I need the right rules before I know what your puzzles are!! :funny:
You forgot the yellow on Diva's head, the white on Sammy's shoulders (and redish cheeks!) and the black stripes on Strider... How's that for "how I am with colours" eh? EH?! :funny:
