I have two yellow nape amazons they have been together now for almost 2years. The female is 10 years old and the male is 8 years old. The female that i have is in heat whenever i rub its back she open her wings like if she was ready to mate. The problem that i have is i believe the female see's me as her mate and the male gets jealous and peaks after me whenever i get to close to the female. Whenever the male trys to get close to the female, the female pecks after him and they end up fighting. Could anybody help me?:shrug2:

Amazons, as most of the larger parrots, can be tricky to breed. They often need a lengthy courtship, and then there is never a guarantee. Do you have them set up in a large breeding flight cage where you have little interaction to allow them to be "alone"? Also, often when amazons can see other pairs it makes it worse, not better as far as breeding is concerned. I would try to leave them to their relationship, especially if the female is bonded to you, having as little interaction as necessary for their daily needs to allow them to continue their courtship. I had a pair of tres maria amazons that "courted" for 8 years before gettin' down to bizness...:funny:
