Alrighty heres an update on Charlie. He went to the vet and got a full bill of health. the vet didnt want to touch his beak because it was too close to the "Quick" and closed very well and he was eating great so didnt want to risk it. we were talking about it after and it makes sence. hes been like this for 5 years and is eating very well.
We also got a HUGE cage for him and i also got a surprise. I had been talking to the cockatiel breeder who was going to bring down the cage about getting Charlie a friend and then we started talking about cockatiel breeding and I told her id been giving it alot of thought but didnt want to put chiko with a female and discussed how charlie seems to love bird attention but chiko wants nothing to do with another bird really he just wants mom. So I told her i would like to get a cockatiel friend for charlie as a cage mate since i knew she had some adult birds in her house. i was supposed to get a normal or white face. She arrives and says surprise. She brought me the most GORGEOUS female pearl i have ever seen. she looks like a little hawk. shes not hand tame but loves being talked to. and really enjoys charlies company. She told me she was a breeder who recently lost her mate who happenned to be a male lutino.
It came to a surprise but im more than willing to care for the young if they decide to breed. and if they dont adleast theill have each others company wether they tame down for me or not. and I love seeing them happy together. I also have the breeders full support should they decide to breed. she said she will teach me to handfeed how to set up a brooder, how to handfeet the babys and prepare the food etc etc. Ive been researching for a while and doing some more now. just to be ready should something happen. But right now they just seem happy to have each others company. I think both of them are happy to have a cagemates again.

pics will be coming at lunch once since im at work

What is the pretty lady's name? Also, poor Chiko not being very friendly, though hopefully he'll warm up to them with time. Though if they do breed those should be some pretty pretty babies....maybe I'll have to sneak on down to see those babies.

That is so weird, especially when I think about how Chiko was super friendly with Popo and Nova.

if you remember he was friendly and interested for the first you know 15 minuts or so then lost interest and went back to mom. thats what he did to these two lol.

If his blood feather still "leaking" or did you guys stop the bleed?

Also, I've got this pic (mostly for Dr C) of Open Beaked Charlie.

Edit : I know they're fuzzy... but it is a cell cam, so... DEAL WITH IT! :funny:

Are you SURE you want that female pearl? I'm sure you don't...why not just give her to me?

*insanely jealous...given my favorite type of parrot...me parrotless...jealous!!!!!!!!*

(If you can't tell, pearl and cinnamon pearl female cockatiels are my all time favorite parrots. Canaries are my favorite of the finches, though.)

she is huge. bigger than both charlie AND chiko.

From what i know Rose(The breeder i got her from) has all her females in a VERY large aviary cage and she is a very good at flying. great control.

thanks. We had a great clicker training session today. i just introduced it. clicking and then feeding her millet. she took to it great. Charlie of course is still petrified of hands so itll take a while for him.

She also took a fly around the room and landed on my head. But shes really good to direct back to her cage. I can do it without scaring her. just moving my hand a bit towards her in a kindof queu and she flys from one area to the other untill shes back to her cage.
