Yesterday I saw my first B&G Macaw really close up. Some one gave him to the store. It was 6 years old and quite beautiful, it was sitting on a sisal rope pretty high up BUT you could reach him if you wanted to. They had a sign that stated that his name was Roger but not to touch his beak and he prefers [sp] mens voices  Well I talked to him for a while and he kept looking at me and rocking side ways, and then he let out a SCREAM, and I'll tell you... WOW!...that would wake up the dead! it was a great experience and now I know what a great feeling it is to be in there company :emot-danc my son walked over and talked to him, he's a big guy and has a deep voice, well Roger semed to fall in Luv with him, he kept reaching down with his head and looking at Scott with this sweet curious expression,...... I fell in luv  I think Roger did too:)
they also had a baby Mollucun Too that was sold and it was so obvious that it was a baby, not by size but by the way it acted,it just moved and leaned toward me in such a fashion that I felt this warm and fuzzy feeling come over me, I told my son and he said I was probably having a hot flash:rolleyes: :funny: Wonderful day!
they also had all varaties of Finches that came in, one prettier then the other. The canaries were beautiful, and there were a few male canaries that wern't sexed in with the females, there much less expensive and I was tempted to buy the male in full song with the females,[I guess they had plenty of reason to be singing:funny:]
the zons were just amazing, they had quite a few babies!!!

My "little" dodge has let out a few of those wake the dead screams, but for the most part he just chatter boxes at us. Those eyes, you could easily fall into them and become trapped:wub:

Congrats on your first intro to B&G's and that warm and fuzzy feeling is so wonderful with the babies:heart:

It amazes me how many calls come in from people looking to 'get rid of' their birds. It's sad; you offer a long list of potential options and a great deal of the people that call simply aren't interested in possible solutions. Their friends have turned into something more than a display and they just don't have time :*(
I'm glad not to be one of their 'friends'...
Pippin has a big sister who screams (gee.. you think maybe she needs something!?!?!) so they wanted to know if she could be de-voiced!!
Not possible? Well they'll just have to find a new home for her then :( ~sigh~ It's not a wonder I like my animals better than most people

Awhile back I saw a bumper sticker that said "The more I'm around people, the better I like my guinea pigs." I thought it said a lot... :)

maybe not guinea pigs for me...but it still stands true.
I worked in pet retail for over 3 years and geez! Sometimes I wanted to say something like "look sir, I like this hamster more than I like you, so really, I'm on his side of this argument." At least at my store we could decline sales for any reason if we thought the home wasn't 'sufficient'.....

not that I ever did that.....(on a daily basis.....):rotflmao:
