My boys only spend a small amount of time in their cages as I have a room they can be safely left in with play trees etc but they are locked in a couple of hours while we have dinner they have theirs in their cages then they come out so I can clean and get their water dishes changed etc and for a cuddle before bed for an hour ...Here are my boys cages ..and their room ..

The top half is covered only and they sleep in a nesting box anyway but if they wake before us they can play and see out...

The kitchen family area where they are allowed with us they have many sitting areas and we have no problems with a height issue either
