The moment we've all been waiting for~! All that remains now is some decorating (I'm going to see if I can paint vines and leaves on the poles), and a transition pole will be added that will go between the main house and the food hut. That will let us push the main house back toward the wall so it will not need to be so close to the food hut. (I'm not sure if I will need rope ladders, but may add some roping for decoration.) Her pattern of travel from the tree stand to the main house will be: from the tree stand to the transition pole - then to either the food hut or the main cage. The transition pole will be similar to the tree stand in that it will have branches and more places to hang toys!

(Notice the door on the main pole - there are two shelves inside):

That is soooo cool! What a great hubby you must have to make something so special for your birds.
I think a rope ladder would look too cool...give it more of that tree house look. But it's awesome just the way it is too!
Great job!!!

Thanks everyone; we are thrilled with how it turned out! Hubby now wants to add a door and some shelves onto the food hut pole. I agree Mookie - I think a rope ladder, if even nothing more than decoration is a total must! I get to have my part of the fun now by decorating it, and am thinking about doing some stuff on the wall like what Tina did in her bird room. You know, to give it more of a jungle feel in the corner. Hubby suggested a misting system to mimic the rain forest - like what they have in the produce section of the grocery store... with some thunder... he's so funny!:foot-tap::D

And re Coco being spoiled - yes, she's my little princess, and spoiled rotten, and she expects nothing less! :funny:

Robin, this is more than impressive! You both did a fantastic job!! I love the door ... storage, right? Oh, how I need storage! And, built in, it looks like it just fits with the overall decor!

Excellent job!!

I get to have a VERY fun weekend starting the major decorating process! Hubby finished a few finishing touches (although, every time he says he's done, he thinks of something else to do!);)

Just when I thought it was cooool enough.. he does more!

First, the food hut and pole are one piece... but the main cage comes off it's post and is, in essence, another travel cage (I already have a regular travel cage). So it needed a front door! He designed the entrance in advance for the latter addition of the door attached with two hooks on each side:

He also added a sturdier/larger branch coming out of the main house that is slightly visible in the above photo.

Finally, the transition pole got a couple of dowels and a built in shelf for Coco's water dish! It also received a t-branch up above for a special hanging toy that is accessible from the tree stand:

I am truly looking forward to the creative part of decorating the whole thing! Then, I'll inundate you all with pictures again!

Stenciled or painted? That's gorgeous!

They are actually rub-on transfers. I bought all the stuff to do stenciling (the stencils, paints and special brushes) because I wasn't sure how well the transfers would work. Since they work quite nicely, and have all sorts of different ones to choose from, I think I'm going to take the stencil paint back to the store. The next transfers I'll do will be some vines down the other poles.

The first two are rub on transfers; the last is stenciled and then I colored it in using markers:

A few more pictures, and some more decorating touches... it is so much fun I expect I'll be tweaking it forever!;) It has been a blast designing and watching it grow and change from a drawing on a piece of paper to a place that Coco absolutely loves and enjoys. Nothing better than seeing our fids happy and entertained, eh?:D

1) Properly identifying the tree fort compound:

2) The shelves hubby provided on the inside:

3) More decorations on the transition pole:

Oh, thank you so very much!:D Coco (aka "The Diva") enjoys the Fort tremendously.... and, hey, my husband would be more than happy to give your husband some "specs" on how to build it!

(Oops.. one other thing I was gonna mention ... she actually lives there 24/7. She does not have a cage. Although the main house has a screen door that can be added (with hooks), and comes off of it's base to be used as a travel cage. She also has a regular travel cage, which is smaller and easier to use than the main house as a travel cage. But she stays in the Fort all the time:))

Oh wow, that's her house! That's so awesome. Would you mind if I posted the picture in another parrot forum I'm a member of? They would go gaga over this!

Well, I had to ask the Diva :D, but she said, sure - no problem! ;)

PS: You will see the 'screen door' sitting up against the wall in the corner of the picture in my signature. I have never used it - the entire area is 5 feet by 8 feet, and she just moves around as she pleases. She can fly, but there is also a ladder (you can see part of it just below the swing where she is sitting in my signature) that if she comes down she can go back up by either climbing the ladder or flying). But she rarely, rarely ever leaves the Fort except on occasion when looking for me).
