Good Morning all.
Well Sue, everything's gone south as they say:rotflmao: we have your weather now, it's :rain: Rather hard and quite windy.
College wasn't too bad we had to take the pc's (and they're really archaic) to pieces and put them back together again..
The tutor doesnt like me much she has a habit of making put down comments in front of the class to seemingly deliberatly humiliate me which I try to ignor but find rather offensive. A couple weeks ago, she was going through some stuff on the board to do with networks and I said the (correct) answer before she did - she then offered me her pen and said since I thought I knew it all did I wish to take the lesson!!! I just replied that she was paid to and I wasn't. cheeky cow.
Normally we always have sweets/ water in class and then yesteray I had a little bag of chocolate aero minty things and she comes over holds the bag up and shouts I do not want to see chocolate in my class - but she never says it to anyone else, and she doesnt mind if you offer her some. Cow.
Good Morning ! It is cooler tonight and only supposed to reach 65 tomorrow. I am glad our picnic was yesterday when the sun felt so nice.
Kristy, Your teacher definately sounds like she needs an attitude adjustment. WOW! How much longer are your classes supposed to last? :shrug2: I get a laugh out of your expression {cheeky cow}LOL :roflmao2: :agree:
Sue, I beat you again today. I will catch you later.
Wishing everyone a nice day!:)
Hi everyone:wavey: More like wet and windy Wednesday here:(
It's forecast a heatwave again this weekend:shrug: They do this every week , then on Friday it changes to cold and wet:agree: How long do they think we are going to fall for this.
Kristie I sympathise about your tutor, I had one who hated mature students as she couldn't treat us like they do the ones out of school. She was really fat and lazy and just wanted to sit in her office and do paprwork and eat:roflmao2: She couldn't stand the fact that she had to work with us, as we wanted to be there and learn. Just give as good a s you get, she'll soon get fed up:rotflmao: It's only her own insecurity that is making her behave this way.
Jean yes you beat me again, I have been really busy and today I have a possible meeting with my other colleague, subject to his appointments and time allowing (there are only 3 of us in the company, so we're pulled out). Then this afternoon , I am taking my Dad to the airport, he's off to Spain for a fortnight (lucky thing) he's showing prospective buyers round a friends apartment so he got it free:agree:
Kristie, have you heard of the new airport at Doncaster? It's only 10 mins from us.

Jean my lessons are to go on for another year! but she may be leaving before that...
'cheeky cow' is a commonly used English expression referring to someone who has a lot of 'cheek' - someone who is rude/lippy or taking advantage.
And, my other annoyance was the fact she was speaking to me like a naughty school girl, instead of an adult. How rude, I thought!

Good Morning! It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here! The temps are to be in the 80's for the next two days and then back into the pleasant 70's until next Tuesday. Can't believe it is the 15th of June already...my how time flies! I have so many things to accomplish between now and June 27th! UGH! I need another one of me to help out! LOL!
Hope everyone has a great day! Or at least a day rid of any cheeky cows! LOL!
NOTE: I learned some of the British ways of speaking from watching Are You Being Served! HEHE!

Hey, IslandZoo...
Your teacher is having an inferiority problem. You have a brain and you're not afraid to use it. Some teachers can't handle that. (Personally, I'm thrilled when I have kids who will actually _think_ for themselves). Bummer she's being such a twerp. (Stronger language not permitted in elementaries). Fortunately, you don't have to deal with her for long.
Sue I haven't heard about that airport, no ??? is that a good thing for you or bad - bad for noise pollution and traffic I imagine!
Actually Kristie, it's not a bad thing, we are a 10 min drive away and it's near a nearby village called Finningley, it used to be an RAF base. Maybe you've heard of Finningley airshow?
We hear the planes but it's only a rumble in the distance and on a clear day we can see some of them. It depends on the wind and take off position but they usually land to the left of our house but it's not intrusive. It has been good for the area as house prices have rocketed, it's created lots of jobs and apparently it's the only other airport in the country (apart from Heathrow) that has a runway long enough to take the new airbus.
The dowside is the stupid name "Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport"
Why they couldn't call it Doncaster International Airport is a mystery, there was a great local outcry about the name. Mainly saying many foreigners won't know who Robin Hood is (an outlaw who lived in Sherwood forest NOTTINGHAM and robbed the rich to give to the poor, for those who don't know). The airports in Yorkshire so that's confusing for a start. There is another town between Doncaster & Sheffield, again confusing for people out of the area!
Sheffield airport was the BIGGEST FLOP, it only went to Holland, so they're just trying to muscle in on our success. Our council tax paid towards Sheffield, Sheffield residents haven't paid a penny to Doncasters.
People said they shoud have named it after Douglas Bader, a pilot and from Doncaster, at least that would have had some cred.
Our best airports are an hours drive away so this is a definate plus.
Here's a link http://robinhoodairport.com and next year they are flying to FLORIDA:dance:

Sue I haven't heard of finningley no i'm afraid! and What a ridiculous name for an Airport!
Birdnerd - I don' t think it's that, to be honest she just doesn't like me. Trevor is doing the course as well and on a previous course there was another couple, who were in their late 50's I suppose. she was ok with them, but she tries to get him on side an makes comments like ' is she like this at home' or whatever, if I make a comment about something or whatever. She's a bit 'blokey' if you know what I mean, and I don't imagine she has many female friends, she is married though

Kristie, I really feel for you. Whether she hates you or not, should not give someone a 'right' to treat someone else like that, expecially a professional or a teacher. She just needs to keep personal attacks to herself, as that is not professional. I would let someone higher know what is going on, if she continues demeaning you in front of class or something. Heck girl, you paid for the class, why does she get to take the $ and not keep up her end by being overly critical and 'cheeky'?? Maybe you need to tell her how you feel after class and let it be known you will not allow someone to demean you in front of the class like that, if she has 'issues' w/you to come to you after class.
Majj, love your term, puts it plain and simple, roflol
Not much going on today, except giving a little extra  for Sinbad's hatchday :p
Have a good day everyone!

Happy Wednesday, all. :wavey:
I'm off to get my hair cut today. I am feeling better in the mornings after a good night rest, but by the end of the day, my tailbone is hurting. But, it's getting better, so that's a good thing.:emot-danc
Kristie, I'm sorry your instructor is being such a ... hmmm, what's the term? Dumb Bitch is what my mother would say. You deserve to be treated so much better. You are, after all paying for your class and she is being paid to teach you, not demean you.:agree:
Jean, good morning. I enjoyed your description of your picnic yesterday. It sounded like the perfect way to spend a lunch.
Sue, being on the front end of a new company is good strategy. I hope it goes well for you.
Nighty night, Majj.
Bill, find yourself a copy machine and hop on up. Zap a copy or two and let them at it.:rotflmao:
Good morning, Birdnerd.
Hello Barb, and a happy hatchday to Sinbad. Give him an extra scratch from me.

thanks Kristie, I guess not feeding her w/retaliation, would taunt her more, lol. When she dont get a rise out of you, it won't be any fun to her  hehee
It's hard to hold back on people who like to degrade other people to feel better about themselves.........too tempting to :hammer: beat some sense into her :foot-tap:
I do hope your endoscopy goes well next week, and can tell you something that would help.
Have a good day girl :tighthug:

 Oh you're so funny!! unfortunately I'm not a confrontational person and I wouldn't have the nerve. from past experience I've learned to keep mouth shut (not enough apparantly..) cos it only seems to get me in more trouble and make life more difficult.
THank you everyone for your kind words of support though :beerchug:
Believe me, you would give her an awakening, it could be done with both tact and charm. Once she consumed your professional mannerism she would swell like a bubble. If she has any brains at all, she would think about where your next letter may go.

Thanks, you mean we could play with Pepper and have a great cup of coffee? Wow! what a deal!
Hey Neil! I used to live in Vancouver, WA!!!! I went to school at the International Air Academy in 1987 and then went on to work for Sun World Airlines (in Las Vegas) after finishing my schooling there in Vancouver. I really enjoyed living in Vancouver.
Bill, what did you do in your occupation for the airlines? Vegas, what a busy airport!!!
Jean, I was trained to do all positions in the operation of an airline except for the pilot or flight attendant. Primarily I did reservation sales but did cross train in customer affairs. I had carte blanche in pursuing the truth when it came to a complaint. I got to fly all over the West coast and investigate these complaints. I walked into a station manager's office once and asked to review the flight records. The station manager knew that the employee who was involved in the complaint and did not want to lose them as an employee. The manager "got in my way" of finding the facts. He nearly lost his job as a result of trying to run interference. I simply and politely told him he had two choices: have a job or not to have a job. He kept his job. I did not work in the airport but was secluded in an unknown location. Security was imperative and this was long before the terrorists running amok. Oh the stories I could tell you...where I was told to stick someone's luggage and other niceties like that. One time we had lost this lady's luggage...and she was yelling at me. I tried to calm her down to no avail. Finally I told the woman once I got her attention: "Ma'am there are two people interested in your luggage, and I am quickly losing interest." I found her luggage promptly after this statement was made. I also had to call passengers when our airline was going out of business to tell them that there plans had to be changed. No one else wanted to do this but I felt obligated to do this job. I felt bad for them and really got an ear full!!! I tried to make arrangements as well as I could for these poor people. One man had flown to Seattle on a free ticket. He called me before his flight. I wanted to cry...because I had to tell him that he was going to have to buy a ticket on another airline. He yelled at me for five minutes straight...I took it but was gathering reservation information for him. I wanted to make a reservation with another airline by calling them myself and see if I could get the lowest fare possible for this man. He did appreciate my attempts to help him. His one question to me was: Why did you want to help me? I told him it was my conscience. He thanked me and apologized for his ugly words toward me. What a job that was! Sorry I am rambling.
My goodness BIll, you did have a lot of responsability with customer service. I'm sure you were one of the best. Thank you, for sharing your experience with us. It can easily open up a window to what a dedicated employee can take on knowing the outcome is very grey. This is just one more reason to admire your kindness.:tighthug:
Thanks Jean! I do have my negative characteristics too! HEHE! I can be moody especially while under tremendous stress. However, I would have to say that the experience I had while in Texas was one of the most humbling experiences I have ever experienced so far in my life. I am thankful for my friends during those bleak and overwhelming days. BN is one of those who was always supportive in numerous ways! I think Shirley nearly drove down to be with me when Kandy died. I had tremendous people who have been there in the lowest of days. I do not ever forget kindness and I try to forget the injustices which I encounter from time to time. I am so very thankful for all of my friends who have been there for me through thick and thin!!! I hope all who have been kind to me are blessed with happiness!!! Got mushy but I mean every word I said.
Awww Bill, you have many good friends here. We all  you for who you are!I hope things keep looking up for you.:grouphug:

Bill,
You wouldn't even recognize it today... it has grown so much its losing the small town atmosphere. Traffic is as bad as downtown Portland, especially on the east side. They are tearing down most of downtown and "growing" large buildings. I guess yu can't keep a good thing a secret forever...LOL....
About your airline job....what a patient and caring person...and the rambling is appreciated. I feel I'm getting to know you, along with everyone else, without the pleasure to meet you in person.
Is it just my perception, or are all the ppl here that love and care for our feathered friends, kind, caring, and sincere. I can honestly tell you that adopting Pepper has made me grow as a human being. I have found patience and loving I didn't know was in me. I have ,in my life, developed a "shield" to protect myself from the cruelty the life can bring. My little girl has led me to let it down and "feel" again. I don't think this would have come about as it has, if not for this forum and the help and guidance from its members and the caring for an abused (I think her life being passed around was abusive to her) little girl. Now I'm rambling...LOL...
Neil, it is fine to rample. Every word you write is from your heart and that in it self is the most precious gift one can share. I am glad you have found our board makes you feelayt home. That is our intent! Sending you a big :grouphug: We are all glad to have you be a part of our bird family.
I believe she was being abused being rejected home after home until you adopted her. That has to take it's toll on any pet, let alone, the emotions of a bird. Thank heavens, your baby has a loving home with you.
:rotflmao: My day might start as early as 3 AM but no later than 5 am.. usually the 5...;) let me know when and I'll leave the door open....
I'm on my way:dance: Neil, that coffee I talked about in France.... we didn't taste anything like it anywhere else in France, I would just love to know how they made it. So i'm guessing it's the beans then:confused: and do you use all milk?
Bill, Neil, ramble away;)
Bill, sounds like an interesting job you had, we have a tele programme here "airport" a fly on the wall documentary about an airport and you wouldn't believe (well you probably would, having experienced it) some of the state people get into, swearing and shouting at the staff!!
Neil, I always think people who have never experienced a bird in their life are missing so much. You are right, they teach us so much.
We are all mushbuckets on here, doesn't take much to bring a tear:rofl: Don't know if it's a bird person thing in general but we're all the same:agree:

Cappuccino is an Italian beverage, prepared with espresso and milk. A cappuccino is generally defined as 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk and 1/3 frothed milk. Another definition would call for 1/3 espresso and 2/3 microfoam. A cappuccino differs from a latte, which is mostly milk and little foam. (A "dry cappuccino" has less milk.)
Yes it was the "blend" of beans and how they are roasted. The heat affects the flavor produced. High heat, fast roast gives one flavor, low heat longer cooking (same beans) gives a different flavor....
I don't like the expresso with the watery froth on top.

I'm on the tail end of this... haven't read it all... but rambling is a good thing!
I boil 1/2 cup milk each a.m., add enough hot French roast to top it off, 3 tsp sugar, and I'm good to go! OR, I use my cafe au lait/cappucino maker, and steam the milk and bring to a high froth, then add the coffee and sugar....
YUM! This started 24 yrs ago while living in New Orleans in the French Quarter, while pregnant with Troy...
