View Full Version : Hi on a miserable Monday!
Hope you are all well, the sun managed to get out a bit yesterday but not for long and it's freezing again today and cloudy, typical blue Monday:(
My first week in the job went amazingly well, so I know I made the right decision and am so glad to have got in at the beginning.
Could do with a cup of your aromatic coffee Jeff:funny:

Hello, Im back!
Oh dear the sun is shining and blue skies here Sue!
It was the Isle of Wight festival this weekend, with Travis,Embrace, REM, Snow Patrol, Brian Ferry, and others I can't remember. I didn't go (tickets were dear, sold out early and I not keen on the acts)
Anyway, I work near the ferry terminal, and honestly you should see it! people asleep in the streets, the cafe packed, bizarre! normally very quiet little town.
Coming back from holiday was horrible, i felt so depressed and didn't want to come home except to see the animals of course.
Pictures will be coming soon by the way! we saw 2 pairs of red tailed black cockatoos and a pair of Palm Cockatoos !!!!! fantastic.
Hi Kristie, welcome back:emot-danc :emot-danc I keep hearing on the news about your fantastic weather but it's horible hereWe had a heatwave here 2 days last week.
I would have loved to see REM & Travis:agree:

Good morning, Jeff. You're busy this morning. :funny:
Today is supposed to be laundry day for me, but not sure how much I can do, with my back hurting. :doh:Greg tells me to just take my pain pills and stay in bed, but I don't like to be so doped up with no one else around. But, the pain is sometimes more than I can handle. :foot-tap:What to do. What to do.
I hope everyone has a great day!:highfive:

Hi Vicki, what is the problem with your back? I used to get back trouble so I know how painful it is :( I was always told to keep moving but that makes it hurt more if something is out of place, I used to find sitting with my back straight usually on the sofa with a cushion in the painful area helpful. sometimes laying down hurts more - especially when you have to get up to go to the loo or whatever. But I know it's hard to take your mind off the pain when it hurts reallly bad.
Good morning Everyone! Good to see you Kristie!
Vicki...hope your back pain is soon gone! Tell Greg the next time he asks you to carry the reef tank to go fish. HEHE! I don't do well with pain either!
Time to go to work...I would have preferred to stay in bed and read a book!

Good morning!
Not much time... little online time today...
We head back to Indiana tomorrow after breakfast, and will most likely make a two-day trip of it, staying over in a motel on the way.
Troy is scuba diving in the Gulf with Ginny's son Steve as I type this.
I'll be back on Weds or Thurs with Pics and in-depth stories and news and such...

Kristie, well, for the long story I have congenital spinal stenosis in my lower back. So, I am in constant pain anyway. But, I hurt my back on Friday when I fell on my tailbone. So it doubly hurts now. Finding a good position to sit, where I'm not sitting on my tailbone is difficult.
Thanks for your concern, I really appreciate it.:highfive: Because it's my tailbone, it doesn't hurt as much when I stand, but I can't stand all day. That irritates my other back condition. :(So, laying down is about my only option. But, you're right. It hurts like heck to get up to use the bathroom. I'm just a sorry mess right now. :funny: I think I'll go out in the back yard and eat worms. :funny:

Now THAT'S a back pain treatment i never tried Vicki!  and trust me i 've been thru the all,,,
(BTW: i just called in for my meds refill,i happened to take a few more than prescribed during this last month,,,so i'll be big gun medication free for a few days til my insurance says i can refill,,,, daily pain meds to maintain "normalcy" turned into "this ain't helping me now", as prescribed.
(think i'll pay outa pocket for the Vicodine, it's not the much $$$ , /specially if i need it,,
Crouched down like a baseball catcher to put away some stuff in the fridge today, could not get back up, came close to calling for my wife to help me up,,but was able to somehow get upright again,,,,
Pain management uses a scale of 1 to 10 in how you rate your pain.My wife (ER) says a 10 is when you can't tell them it's a 10.if you can tell the doc it's a ten, yer fibbing. I have been a 10.5 at times,,,but not since my spinal fusion,,
Hope you feel better soon, Vicki:thumbup:
I agree with your wife Jeff. One of the questions I ask is for the client to rate their pain (1-10)...I tend to think of 1 as "ouch" and 10 as "get me to the hospital now!"
Careful what you ask for Sue,,,LOL

Good morning! :wavey: it is a beautiful and sunny :sunshines with an expected high of 75. You can tell spring is here, the little birds are chirpig and busy finding food and making nests.
Vicki, I am sorry your back is in such pain. :tighthug: The stenosis alone can keep one in constant agony. This last tail bone injury has to irritate it terribly let alone, having an injured tailbone. That may take a long time to heal. Do you know if you cracked it? My reason for asking, 6 years ago I took a tumble and thought I only bruised mine. It wasn't getting better after 3 weeks so I went in for xrays and found it was fractured. It took a long time to heal. In 1991 had decompression and fusion done to relieve the stenosis from S-1 through L-5. That surgery left me with a lot of nerve damage. My spinal stenosis has since traveled upward to T6-T7- again at T10-T11 discs.
Hi Kristi, :wavey: we all missed you while you were vacationing. Glad to hear you had a nice time. It is nice to have you back feeling refreshed.
Sue, what a bummer to hear about you cold weather. That is strange for this time of year isn't it? It is nice to hear all is going so well on your
new business venture.
Bill, hopefully, your weather will be as nice as ours this week. :highfive: I'll bet Scooter loves it that your are not having to study as many hours as before.
Jeff, I am having my coffee and can't help but think of you enjoying yours. It always makes you feel good to stock the pantry full of supplies. My dad was famous for having the best stocked pantry in town. He went through WW11 and learned how important it was to keep groceries and staples on hand. I remember him telling me he even had stocked up on nylon stockings for my mom. During the war they were not availale. He said the he manufacturing companys were making supplies for the war instead of stockings and some other personal supplies during the war.
Shirley, we all look forward to your pics and stories once you get back home.
Wishig everyone a nice day. :Blueflowe

That is a good one! I understand your diagnosed level of pain 10.5. When I hurt that bad I don't feel like playing number games defining my level of pain.:hammer:

Jeff, I keep a constant supply of Vicodin and Soma on hand. My doctor is really good at making sure I always have a prescription available and I don't have to worry about insurance and can get it filled any time I want. :emot-danc
I play the numbers game too and so long as my pain is around the 5 - 7 range I can manage without pain meds. Any higher ... and well.. lets just say I'm out for the count.
Jean, I remember you saying you had stenosis as well. I'm sorry the surgery didn't help. Surgery isn't an option for me. Doctors say nothing can fix it. :foot-tap:
I keep a well stocked pantry as well. All of my supplies in general are stocked up. I don't like having to go to the store to buy something because I ran out. I always have another bottle of ketchup already in the pantry or another bottle of laundry detergent in the cupboard. Makes it easy. When on sale, I buy the paper towels in the 8 pack size and stock up on 2 or 3 packages at once. I actually save money by not having to buy items when they're not on sale or when I run out.
I better go back and lay down. I decided to take my pain pills anyway and then do the laundry. Shhh.. don't tell Greg. :funny:

My lumbar surgery was to remove 3 herniated discsas well as the decompression and fusion. It was a huge surgery that lasted 10 hours. Never again! It did relieve the stenosis pain in the lower lumbar, It left a lot of nerve damamge that keeps me in pain as well as the stensis pain in my T-spine
Is the reason surgery will not help because it has already traveled throughout your spine? Mine keeps traveling in the T-spine at the rate of one or two more discs at a time. Accompanied with arthritus of the spine which many suffer from.

:scratchch By the time I reach a pain level of #10, I am annoyed at anyone for even asking what number I am! :agree:
