Newbie here. My name is Christy and I live in Montana with my husband and 2 of our 6 children. The others are all grown and have moved out. I was looking for info about my new Love Birds and came across this forum.
My husband took me to the pet store where they had two cages of Black masked Lovies. One cage had some that were 3 months old and the other had 5 month olds. I had a terrible time deciding and I got two at first. However this one little peach face that was in with the older birds looked so sad. The other birds were picking on it, so I ended up going back and getting her too. She is in my daughters room and we named her Doris the Dork. Actually we call her dorky bird, but Doris does sound better. My Blacks are named Simone and Stella. Stella is the spaz and totaly goes wild when I get near the cage. I am hoping to read up on the posts here to learn how to tame my little wild ones.

Welcome to the bird forum, Christy. You're going to be a good bird mommy. You rescued Doris. YAY.
There are lots of good bird people here, so ask your questions. I'm sure you'll find someone to help you on your way to caring for your bird babies.
WELCOME Christy...
I would love to see some piccy`s of Doris the Dork:nuts: ..poor little girl ..or lucky girl to be bought by a kind loving family:heart: ..I am sure you will need patience to tame those little black masked lovies , they are so cute looking arn`t they , I try to stay away from pet shops as I know I am WEAK :shrug2: and would find it very easy to come home with ...just one more .. :rotflmao: ..
I am marion aka Majj from New South Wales Australia ...I live with hubby Joe and my 2 feathered babies Sunny the sun conure and buddy the Quaker , we also have 2 fur babies Zeus the samoyed and frosty the old deaf cat , you can see their piccys in the forum for other critters (not feathered ones)..We have 3 adult kids no grandbabies so my fids and fur babies are spoilt rotten  and all think they are human...

Well, my Dorky baby Doris is my favorite. She loves to cuddle and have head rubs. Such a lovey. She loves her bath time and makes soft cooing noises. I let her out of the cage lots, her wings are clipped and she seems to really enjoy being where ever I am. Her neck feathers are coming in beautifuly and her beak is healing although slowly. She likes seeds better than her pellet diet but she absolutly refuses to eat her veggies. So we have to work on that some more. My mom came over today and fell in love with her as well. The two of them lovied and cuddled the whole time she was here.
Simone and Stella prefer to be left alone. They still go crazy when ever you touch the cage. They sure are cute though and loud. They love to sing in the mornings and they even get Doris going and she is in another room. They prefer to have a bath in the water bowl but I do take them out and give them a shower in the bath tub. I learned real quick to use a towel to handle them as Simon likes to draw blood. They like the pellets and do eat seeds sometimes. Sunflower being the favorite. They also love romaine lettuce but won't eat any other veggies yet. They love to play with their swing and Stella likes to strum the cage wires. It really is funny to watch.
I will try to get some pictures.
