I thought some people might enjoy seeing Zeke's training today...
The background: Zeke knows to target my hand when I say "touch." No matter where it is he'll leap in the air and touch my hand with his nose (and body slam me if I am not careful). I decided it would be fun to teach him to target a target stick (in this case, a plastic fence post with a foam ring on it). Before the videos were taken I put my hand on the foam and said "touch" - I did this once or twice. Then I waited for him to nose the foam of his own accord and I rewarded that. He immediately latched onto the idea. These 2 videos were taken after a total of 1-2min practice. I've never tried this with him before.

As you can see by the second video, we progressed to adding additional requirements really fast. I was able to do this because I've been working with Zeke for years and he knows when he's in a "learning" session and when I am just playing with him.
ETA: If you didn't hear from the videos, this was clicker-trained. The yapping was one of the other dogs who was jealous that Zeke was out and he wasn't.
