Wow. That is a great looking bird bath. How would I get Bailey to use something like that, instead of his water dish? Is it instinctual? Would he just "know" to use the bath? :scratchch

Is that something you leave connected to their cage at all times or do you put it out for them?

The bird show is coming to town on the 18th, I'm getting Bailey a new cage. I'll keep my eyes open for a bath too.

Loved the pics, especially how they wait their turn. Too cute.

What we done was actually watched for behavior of when they wanted to bathe. Usually that was when they heard rain, water running, washing machine running, and strangely enough when something was frying in the kitchen. I guess that is because it kinda sounds like water to them, who knows? So when we noticed what made them want to bathe, and noticed that they would bathe in the water dish, that is when we started taking the water dish out, and hanging the bird bath up. Then we would let them watch us pour water into it so that they would know what it was. It took a little while for them to get used to it. But of course all "new" things in or around there cage either takes time, or they jump right on it. We actually found the bath at a flee market in Athens GA. There was a very reputable breeder there, and she had several things for birds. I guess you could call it a bird show too, because she had several of her babies, and other birds up for sale. I remember my MIL got a double yellow head amazon baby from her, and finnished hand feeding him. He is just adorable. But he is still kind of a "touch me not". As far as the Bird bath.....we only put it up now when they want to take a bath. But we used to leave it on there cage a couple of days to see if they would go anywhere near it. Of course you kinda have to keep a check on the water too, because they tend to get stuff in it. Most likely you don't want baby birdie to bathe in dirty water.

I love bird pictures and stories. I know if we had the money, time and space for an aviary we would have all kinds of them here. We just love our FIDS.

Nice bath pictures :) Love the way the Sun is waiting for his turn. Kinda looks like he is pacing the cage and keeps checking back to see if he can get in :D
