I would like to get a male Canary sometime in the future and was wondering if he would be happy as the only one?
He would be in with my other 4 finches (2 Gouldians & 2 Owls).
Also which type of Canary has the nicest song?

Spanish Timbrados are famous for their incredible song - I used to raise them. they are do not have a quiet song, however. You might like the songs of some of the others (other than the American Singer, which is also often loud) If you do a search for various canaries - you'll likely be able to hear their songs online.
I would hesitate before putting a canary in with Gouldians. Gouldians are so fragile and can easily be frightened to death (I had them, too). Canaries are quite aggressive, as a whole, in a finch flight. However... that does not mean every canary is aggressive.
Yes, a male canary is very happy as the only bird in his domain! :)

Shirley....thanks for the info. If I get a Canary I won't put him in with the other finches...to risky.
I saw on Craigslist that somebody was selling what they called a Waterslager male and said he sang "water notes".....hmmmm....I will have to research that and see if I can find a clip of what they sound like. :scratchch
