The first pelicans have arrived

Every spring the pelicans arrive at our nearby Lake and River. Here is one of the early arrivals.

I love pelicans. We get to see a lot of them here in FL. Mostly ours are gray and brown. Those white ones are really pretty.

We like to go down to the river or lake and watch them. It is enjoyable to watch as they interact with each other. Especially, the mothers teaching their babies how to fish. Ours in the north west are white, some have a black area under their wings. They like to float down the Klamath river a ways then swim back up and repeat it. Sometimes you will see them hold their wings out a little so they can get a cool breeze under their wings.
