Summer begins tomorrow then:clap:
How are we all? I had a better weekend, and the weather was warmer so that was cool.
Back at work for 4 days then off on me hols :emot-danc
my dad will be feeding the animals for the week. At least Bob & Basil can 'talk' to each other, so it's no so lonely for them.
We've been reeeallllly lazy with our laundry and we have so much piles of it it's hard to get through. we're trying to clear it completely by the end of the week!
Trouble is we only wash what we want to wear - I found a top in the bottom of the basket I haven't worn for 2 years :o - it's glittery so can't be washed in the machine and I've not got round to hand washing it. I think i only wore it once too!

GOODMORNING to you and Goodnight from meeeeeeee...:wavey:

Well its was our last day and now its our last night of May ..lol.. and our first official day of winter tomorrow ...Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, so far the days have been sunny but cool nights , nice to snuggle up in bed and read...(after I get done on the computer that is....)
Today I enjoyed myself and feel I achieved a few things:emot-danc , after a nice long breakie with the boys (Sunny and Buddy) I set them up in the fid room and went had a couple of hours being pampered in the Hairdressers , came out looking (well feeling anyway) a few years younger , gone is the grey for another 6 weeks ...I then tackled the Bathroom store again and finally settled on tiles for the bath room and en-suit , selected the vanity for each room, taps etc so I have achieved something that has been on my mind , the builder has been at me to do this they will be starting soon ..luckily we have a guest room downstairs and another small bathroom (toilet and shower) both off the fids room so we will move down there while the demolishing and re-building go`s on up stairs ...I dread it but will be glad when its done its way over due , a disgrace really tiles coming away from the wall  its a wonder we havent had leaks..:shrug2: ...Oh ! well soon to be all nice and new...
Kristy Hope you have a GREAT holiday , you`ll need it after getting through your laundry by the sounds of it ..lol:rotflmao:

Good Morning! :sunshines :Blueflowe

It's a beautiful sunny day!

Today we're so excited! Dr. Cook and her husband and vet tech Erin are coming for a COCKATOO/PARROT Backyard Barbecue!

We'll have a VERY NOISY BACKYARD!!

I'll take a lot of photos; you can count on that!

We've moved tree stands outdoors for perches, and large travel cages to the back yard for the Flighted Fids ~ Shelby, Merlin, Skyler ~ and there's the Maple tree for those who wish a "more natural setting" and cannot "fly off to the while yonder"... How exciting!

Annie is coming, of course, and Dr. Cook cannot wait to meet her! And likewise!

Troy is making Shish-ka-bobs - both beef and shrimp & chicken w/pineapple, plus regular barbeque chicken on the grill, and Dr. Cook made a Lemon Cream Cheese Pound Cake! YUM!!

She will finally get to meet Michelle and Play-Doh, too!

I might shoot some video just to get some audio files...Merlin's voice is something else!

I'll be off-line quite a bit today, as she'll arrive at 10:30, her husband and vet tech Erin at 11:30, don't know how long everyone can stay, then I have an appt at 5:30 and another at 6:00 here for photo work.

:wavey:   Happy Day to everyone!

Play-Doh with his Play-Doh... and Nugget before his bath...see the finch tub in the background?

Happy Tuesday all. :wavey: I'm going to be a day off all week, what with yesterday being a holiday.

Kristie, I did laundry yesterday and got all caught up. It's a chore, but I do it every Monday and don't have to worry about it for the rest of the week. Good luck with yours. ;)

Majj, I hope your renovations go well. It's always nice to have something new when it's all done. It's like moving into a new house.:emot-danc

Jeff, changing shifts? Bummer. :( Unless you like this shift? Then, good for you.

Bill, sounds like you're going to be busy today. Don't forget to take a breath every now and then. :)

Shirley, your backyard BBQ sounds like quite the party. I bet your yard looks beautiful with all the flowers in bloom.:agree: I look forward to seeing all the pictures.

As for me, I'll be wading through my e-mail and then writing for the rest of the afternoon.

Good afternoon! :holy: We woke up to a beautiful sunny day. :sunshines It is beginning to cloud over this afternoon. The weather predicts some thunder showers later this evening.

Shirley, Oh boy, a birdie outing and BBQ sounds like the perfect day.
I would love to be there with you. Love the pics!!!

Majj, just think how much you will enjoy your house once the renovations are finished. :emot-danc Even a few hours of being pampered makes you feel good.

Kristi, your summer begins tomorrow. :woot: Ours officially begins June 21 this year. Good luck with your big laundry chore.

Vicki, enjoy your day wading through your emails and writing.

Bill, hope your day is a nice one, I know it is a busy one. :emot-danc

Jeff, hope you get used to your new schedule.

Barb, I beat you today. I hope you had a good weekend too.

Wishing everyone a nice day!!

Well, the barbeque was quite the party, and plenty loud at the beginning, then everybirdie settled in and had a grand time in the tree, on tree stands, and Skyler stayed in the large outdoor parrot cage. Even Tucker enjoyed being highest in the Maple tree, overseeing all the fun!

Well... the downside is this:

I don't know what happened, but there are no pics on my camera card... Annie turned on my camera, was looking at my pics, then said "what's this?" and there was a weird black line design on the back. I didn't pay it much attention, but just said, "I don't know; just turn it off and we'll put it on the computer to see it. I took some movies, you know." (I rarely use the movie mode, but did so this time to record Merlin's impressive voice for you all)
Well, there were two cards in my camera; both are empty. :(
Empty in my camera and empty on my computer... :(:(
That's never happened before... ever :(:(:(

So I wrote to Dr. Cook and told her we'd just have to do this again in July!! I'm sure she'll agree as all the bird had a glorious time and everyone LOVED Troy's shish-ka-bobs and grilled asparagus and other veggies grilled in butter!

Dr. Cook's cake was to die for, and she and Annie had an in-depth conversation about the requirements for vet school studies.

Shirley, I am sorry about the camera. :( Hope it is nothing serious. The BBQ sounded yummy, your menu was one of the best...

I have been looking for a good lemon cream cheese pound cake. Do you suppose Dr Cook would care to share her yummy recipe?

It is good to hear Annie was able to talk seriously with Dr. Cook. She would make a wonderful mentor.

Shirley

I'm sure she'd share it. I think she mentioned finding the recipe on the 'net in the first place.

I tried the camera and it works fine. I have no clue what happened. It never went to format or erase, and Annie has worked my camera many times before. I tried movies, so it wasn't that. I just can't figure out why it would delete the entire day!

:(

There was nothing "important" on there... but picture all the birds and such and the picnic table, and Troy holding Merlin, and it was just "cute" shots from cockatiel to Moluccan, and everyone got along just fine - at safe distances!

I am glad the camera is fine... sometimes strange things happen with electronics. Thank goodness, this didn't happen on a photo shoot.

Your description was a nice one and will do until the next BBQ. :highfive:

:highfive:
Precisely! Weird thing... I looked at the ones of Troy holding Merlin... then took more. Annie saw several, then it did the weird line pattern thing, then that was the end of it. Now it works.

Dr. Cook's Lemon Cheese Bundt Cake:

Frosting:

1 stick butter
~ 4-6 cups Powdered sugar
~ 1/2 cup Real Lemon Juice

Beat all together until smooth. I use powdered sugar/lemon juice in various amounts until the mix "looks right".

Lemon Cheese Bundt Cake

2 sticks margarine, softened
1 stick butter, softened
1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
6 eggs
3 cups cake flour, sifted
3 cups granulated sugar
1/8 tsp. vanilla extract
1/8 tsp. lemon extract

Cream together margarine, butter and cream cheese in a *large* bowl.
Add 2 eggs, 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar; mix well. Repeat until all eggs,
flour and sugar have been added. Add extracts and mix well. Place
batter in a greased, floured Bundt pan. Bake at 300F - 325F for 1 hour
and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out
clean.

Notes: I used at least 1/4 teaspoons each of the extracts. The batter
will be very thick! I used a soup ladle to transfer the batter to the Bundt
pan. I let mine bake about 15 minutes longer and kept the temperature
at 300F the whole time.</pre>

Thank you,
The recipe is to die for! VERY rich!

Jeff ~ YES! and bring your birds!!

The only ones not in attendance were the flighted Bourke's!!

Somehow one of the cages were left open though... and Troy comes out to the yard from the kitchen saying, "There's two Bourke's flying around my head in the kitchen. Is that supposed to be happening?"

Hmmm... only on a day the patio door is wide open... thank heavens they didn't fly out! Course they are so friendly and smart... they MIGHT not have flown off!!:D

WELL SAID! I guess, you raised some smart Bourke's. It must pay to have good teaching credentials! They were just having fun with their flying skills. What would Troy of thought if they would of started to help him prepare the meal. :rotflmao:
