I arrived in plenty of time to the school. I made my rounds greeting everyone I knew and had a great time chatting with old friends! It is good to make friends with people in school, not to mention having a reputation as a good student!
The presentation was set at 4PM about a month ago! I neglected to think that I needed to babysit my committee members. MY CHAIRMAN was the ONLY ONE THERE! He called the PhD Research Director who told him to go ahead and have me do the presentation one-on-one. I did and he accepted my defense of my dissertation. He hugged me and congratulated me as "Dr Dobson!!!" My chairman is an awesome man whose wife is terminally ill. I think the world of him. He told me after it was all over that he had sent in my passing grade that morning so I could graduate!!!!
Fly in the ointment: I have to take my time on Wednesday away from a client to present the same dissertation to them all over the phone. I don't have to pay for the call as the school is footing the bill. The committee members will be able to ask questions and ask for revisions; however, if it is a major revision my chairman said he will advise me differently.
I AM basically done but have to go through these hoops just for the respect of the committee...although the conference call will be at my convenience as per the PhD research director.
All that I really have is the editing process left. I have to get it all done by no later than August 30 so that I do not have to register. Stupid rule! I think it is intended to motivate one to get it done!
I have reached the goal...I have paid my dues...I have accomplished the level of education of recognition...I am tired and ready for bed.
