Sinbad's new words!!

I swear after hearing mumblings from a month ago, I heard him say "I love you" in a very quick deep voice. I heard it again since then, but was like naaaah did he say that? But he said it again today loud and clear for me to hear :emot-danc

He & Akeela were hanging out, and I peep around the corner like I always do if they are out there, and say my "peek-a-boo's" and they go back and forth talking and making noises. It is sooo adorable!! :heart: When I get a tripod, I'll have to set up the camcorder so I can catch that!! He's also barking like a dog now too, hehehe

He was so excited playing this, he let out a big "Hi!!" in my voice :D Then after making his neat sound effects, said in a soft voice that sounds like me....."good boy" :eek: I was on the floor just giddy!!! You cannot believe what it means for him to say these words, after a yr of not really talking (main word was "cheeseburger", and just making noises. For him to know he's a 'GOOD BOY' just brings tears to my eyes :wub:

I knew this would be the perfect home for him, and he's got a sister to learn from, and a mama who teaches them :woot:

Hi Barb,

CONGRATS for Sinbad new pharses!! I just had the same thing 2 days ago. Oliver normally whistles more than talks. But two days ago and again this morning, he said clearly several times, "I love yooooou." I was very excited. He also said, "Shower!" a couple times today which was the first day I heard him saying that. Later on, he said something like, "Wanna shower?" and "Who took a shower?" The last one was funny because I actually asked Joey after giving Oliver a shower, "Look, who just took a shower?"

Joey made up some of his own phrases too. He can say, "I love you", "Excuse me", and "I love + me". The last one he just made it up himself. At the beginning, instead of "Excuse me", he said, "Accuse me". But the "Accuse me" is gone now. Thank goodness! :-) Joey is incredible in terms of his talking ability. I did not expect him to say many phrases, but he can say about 14-15 phrases. I am running out of nice phrases for a little bird to say now. :-) I am so excited every time they say something new. They are absolutely amazing!!!! It is very true that you get the most, when expecting the least (something like that). *_^

Please let me know when you post more pictures of Sinbad. He is soooo cute!

Lana, sounds like you have quite the characters there at your house also, hehehe. You know they just had an article in Bird Talk about budgies and how smart they really are and also one of the best talkers!! I never knew that!

Sinbad is a special guy, and for him to say new words were music to my ears!! I KNEW he would start picking up words and meanings from Akeela, since she's my little talker!! hehhee

Akeela is the one who picks up new words very quick, even after hearing them once. Like in her video where she's dancing and singing, that was totally awesome to hear her sing. Very cool :cool: Not to mention how greys actually understand in context. That's what gets me. I go to open a soda can, and she's over there "cracking" it open for me, roflol, not to mention the sound effect of me placing it on the table at the appropiate time.........that's smart!!! :thumbup:

Hi Kim and Barb,

Thank you + thank you. It is exactly right how Greys can tie the action to what they say. My friend's CAG will say "Bye-bye" or "See you later" once my friend grabs a car key. Also, when I walk into the bird room, Oliver will greet "Hi Baby" or when he hears a telephone ringing, he will say "Hello". But sometimes no one calls, so he calls himself and says "Hello". I am soooooo in love with my birds!!!
