Good morning everyone! We are forecast to have a heat wave here over the weekend but oddly enough the temps still drop down in the cool 40's at night. Birdnerd...I understand your excitement!
I just have to get my shower, love Scooter, pack the bags in the car and eat breakfast before I am on the road. My father is going to be driving a pickup truck to Sonoma, CA but he is leaving a little later. It would have been fun if he could have gone at the same time and we could have had a convoy. HEHE!
Long drive ahead of me but I do enjoy traveling esp. in my caddy. Long trips don't seem so long in it!
Hope everyone has a super Thursday! I might be able to check in Friday but you can count on my return on Saturday late evening for sure.
Hugs,
Halfadaytogo.Halfadaytogo.Halfadaytogo.Halfadaytog o.Halfadaytogo.Halfadaytogo.

It's definately warmed up! Do you notice how before every BH this year they've hyped it up saying there would be a heatwave:confused: then there wasn't. We don't go til BH Mon and I haven't seen that far ahead.

Vicki, I sympathise,I had my first one 2 years ago (we get called every 3 years here) and the pain:yikes: My friend said it didn't hurt but she is rather large, no in fact she's massive:rofl: but i'm small and when they squash them in Ouch! I wasn't helped by the fact, the lady was training and she did the first one wrong, then I had to wait til they were checked and THEN i had to have it done all over again by an experienced nurse:eek:  (nine times altogether!!) I was in pain for days after:ohmy:

So we have to have those exams, Sue, yearly... does that mean we have 3x the chance of the disease? :roflmao2: Maybe I'll ignore the rules and cut back to once every 3 yrs and call myself European-style.
I'm off to shoot birds  with my $500 digital camera vs my photog friend's $3,000 digital! Nope, can't buy one like his, but I can play! Gonna shoot Holly, Sunshine, and Bluebell in the sunshine and flowers in his yard. He's only 10 min from me.
I'll post pics, yep! Oh, and that's $3,000 BEFORE the lenses, flash, etc! I might splurge someday for something less like the Nikon D-70, I'll have to upgrade at some point, and he keeps calling the D-70 a "plastic toy" and it's around $1000 with only one lens!!

Sue, Ya:emot-danc for your last day. I know you were glad to see it pass. Are the birds vacationing with you or are they staying with a sitter?
Bill, you enjoy your cruse control, you will float down the highway in your caddy and be there before you know it.
Shirley, every three years :roflmao2:we wish. Maybe, they have less cancer risk in the UK.
Vicki, OMG not that again. I hate going into that torture chamber. :help: It isn't bad enough they torture us once by smashing us flat one way. Then they tortured us a second time and smashed us sideways. :help:
Barb, I am glad to hear you are feeling better.:tighthug:
Kristi, sending hugs and well wishes your way.:tighthug: I am sorry you are in so much pain.

Evening All!
Mammogram, heck i had one of those, even had a mastectomy, yes, me, a male!
Started with a swollen area around my nipple, painful an all(i can type this in mixed company, I'm a guy,,,LOL) had it checked out, mammogram, yes fella's can need to have them too, ended up getting a mastectomy of the left one, Doc said is was fairly common in men a lil older than me(forgot what the medical trem was that i had, non-cancerous tho;) )I asked ,what about the other one, any chance in having the same happen there? He said, no , when one mamm. gland is removed, never been a occurence of the remaining one ever giving a problem.
other than a few times after the surg .to remove excess fluid, no problems,(BIG needle tho OW!)
Had learned that men have to check themselves also, They can have problems too!;)
Sorry to side track, Worked days again today, yuck, hate them!
Got home ,and my wife and I went to the mall to check out in person those Select Comfort Sleep Number bed systems.Did a lot of research ,and talked to a lot of people that had them, and got good reviews from all of them. I received a very large (best to date)Quarterly profit sharing check from my work,($5000+),so we decided to check into these beds. Been having trouble sleeping for a long time, and compromised my sleep time, with the way my back felt.less sleep /felt better than more ,needed sleep,,, so with all the extras, mattress pad,new pillows, extended queen mattress system, ended up running a lil over $2200,seems like alot of $$for a dern bed, but if it helps, it will well be worth it,,,,We'll see in a week or so ,when the UPS truck delivers it.
Also, got talked into replacing the carpet, new mini-blinds/curtains ,since we were changing out the bed anyway, had to agree it made sense.
Oh well, that was my day, hope everyone had a great one!:wavey:

Hey Jeff! Lemme know about that bed. Steve and I looked at them in December... I'd love to try one out for a couple weeks.
Interesting medical stories today... sorry, I have nothing to contribute... well, I did do my own needle work a couple weeks ago to relieve the pressure of an infection at 1:00 a.m. from a root canal I have to have and the doc hasn't had time yet... the meds got rid of the infection, but meanwhile, at 1:am it hurt like the dickens, and it was the #2 upper tooth (last one in back) and I couldn't get EITHER son to do it OR Steve, so I got Troy to hold my cheek out while I held the flashlight in one hand and the 27 guage needle with the other, stuck myself in my severely swollen upper gum about 8 times, couldn't even feel it, and well, you don't even want to hear the rest, BUT the pain was almost instantly gone. Good saltwater rinse NOT FROM THE TANK JEFF!!! and it was fine. Dentist said I did good, although he couldn't have recommended that, (I told him it was either that or the ER or I wake him at 1:00 a.m. or I use a cheap little .22) and he wrote me a script while rolling his eyes, now he just needs to get 90 min time to get me in... meanwhile, I carry an extra script around just in case...
I'm so darned busy I can't get in the ONE time he has time before our trip to FL....

OW! Shirley, even I would not have done that! LOL
Will pass along the reviews of the bed when i get it,and try it out after a few nites,,,
Shirley, forgot what hotel chain uses these beds,(i'll try to find out,and let you know),,maybe you n Steve can check into one of them while on your way down to Fla.not sure if they are bird "friendly" ,but you never know,,,
Jeff, it is the Radisson Hotels that offer the sleep # beds.

That could work. I had half a day left until the end of the school year. I spent the rest of the day packing because I have to move my room. Tomorrow's more of the same.
My plans? After getting my room moved over to the other wing, I'm going to attend a couple of training sessions then finish the rock garden in my back yard, send 2 books off to publishers, finish typing in a third so I can edit it, and try to finish writing a 4th this summer so I can start entering it into the computer this fall.

Thanks Jean, and Jeff! I bet they cost an arm and a leg, too!
I think we'll be making the trip in one run again, and Troy will be there to help drive this time.
I posted a pic of Holly in the Picture perch forum that I took with my friend Stan's digital camera... the FujiFilm FinePix S1-Pro.

It's a neat pic!

I am north of Modesto CA in a Fairfield Inn. I did as Jean and Shirley talked about...and the clerk gave me a discount! I stayed at another place while in Fresno and realized that I had no regular sized towels about midnight! The innkeeper told me I should have called at that hour but I figured I could use what little ones they did have. I got tired from today's stressful events and had to stop. Did not make it as far as I wanted. I will address what took place today in a separate thread. Do I have your curosity peaked?
Naturally you do!
Small towels, a bummer. Was that place a chain? If so, you need to complain to their corporate headquarters. If it is, that is most likely against regulations unless it was a motel 6, they have different standards then many hotel chains.
What a tacky way to blame you for not saying something early. It is their responsibility to furnish bath towels. Not your responsibility to check the room for proper amenities.
