by physical looks alone nope....I mean some say head shape and size can be a give away males tend to have more blockier shaped heads where females don't but thats not reliable..but the only 100% sure way to sex a bird is via DNA sexing your avian vet can do it via blood sample from a toenail ...

I have been told that there are labs around that can use a feather to determine sex, but I've never tried it.
Umbrella Cockatoo's don't have to be DNA tested. Their eye's give them away after a couple of years.

My vet actually did a very small, very quick blood draw (an incredibly small amount) as opposed to clipping a toenail. Didn't even phase Coco. The needle was ultra-thin.
My opinon only: looks can be deceiving. if you really, really want or need to know and be 100% sure - DNA.
Even with charts saying that females are generally smaller, generally weigh less, etc., I've had skinny males and not so svelte females....
Oh, wait - I gotta go -
I HATE when the conversation turns to WEIGHT:doh: .............)
Where's my chocolate stash?????????????????:omy:

eyes are not always reliable on cocktoos either..a gal I know has a 20 year old moluccan that has the darkest blackest eyes I had ever seen and she thought it was originally a boy to till it was sexed and it is a girl..I have talked to a few people that have had older female toos that have dark dark eyes....DNA sexing is the only true 100% accurate way to go next to surgical sexing which does not have to be done unless you are breeding and need to know that reproductive organs are intact and viable..
