I am making photo icons to go under the forum titles... and changing them every so often. I'm also putting the species names above the species. Greg is programming them into the board program so you can see them.
You may see an example of this in the Cockatoo Forum... go there and have a look.
If you'd like to donate pics of your birds for the species forums, or pets for the non-feathered forum, please do so and send them TO ME at ssmorgan@insightbb.com AS ATTACHMENTS, not in the body of the email, IF you know how to do that, otherwise, however you can is fine. I'll do the cropping, resizing, etc. In the subject line of you email, please type BoF Photo Donation
Here are the guidelines:
Crystal clear photos only.
Head and shoulder shots are BEST, but might be able to consider others if in a pinch for a species. We are making TINY pics... we can't reduce a full-size bird and still see it that small.
If we can't see the bird's face, then don't send.
Choose pictures that have a PLAIN solid background. White or dark wall, or hang a sheet or blanket up behind the tree stand.
If I've already made pics for you of your bird... write me and say... Hey, remember that pic you made? Please use it! I never delete my work and its all in a folder with your name on it if I made you something.
Bird pics...Mostly BIRD in the pic... a cute bird/toy pic... the pic is going to be reduced so much that the toy will take up too much room and "cheat" the bird of necessary room to see it. Think "portrait" or "educational" photo to enlighten people what a particular species looks like. Imagine everything edited out but the bird, and if it looks great, then it's useable. :highfive:
Tell me the species only, don't need its name, age, owner, etc.
Please sign your real name on the email and tell me we can use your pics.
I'm not paying any attention regarding whose bird/pet it is, just looking for excellent photo clarity, color quality, and how rare the species is for starters, then as we rotate the pics, we'll choose the more common species for the forum. So... I will not put up copyrighted photos (of a Black Palm, for instance) but if you have a photo of a bird that is not yours and you took the photo yourself, then you may send it if you know you have the right to use it. Do not download something off the 'net and send it to me please.
Cockatiel forum: variety of color mutations and GIVE me the Name of the mutation... if it will fit, I'll post the name of the mutation. Otherwise, I may just put a line-up of variously colored 'tiels and no mutation names on top.
If you have pics of your pet/bird/etc that will go with the other forums, such as with a collar on, a wing in a sling, leg bandaged, we can put those sorts of pic in the ER Help Desk Forum, and so on for other appropriate pics under the other assorted forums. You get the idea...
Now fill my mailbox up! Follow your bird around and take pics! Use a white wall or hang a dark blanket or sheet up behind him... I usually take about 10 to 50 to get the ones I keep! Keep your flash low if it's adjustable, but do use a flash in most cases, and put it on "sports mode" to stop the action so you reduce chance of blur. Use your highest quality setting. I'll reduce the image size on my end.
