Ok, the littl' guy is growing up! Attached are three pics, a reminder of an earlier one from 10-10, a second one from 10-17 and one last night (10-22). He's gonna outgrow his mansion-cage soon!!!  :highfive:
This Friday will be day #21 with foster-momma.

Thanks, Jean:thanx: , I'd have taken 5 Petey's if need be (or 500....). I'm just relieved we made it through that first critical week with a happy ending:clap: ! And today, for the first time, he tried to fly forward! (He didn't make it far, but it is a start and better than flying backwards!!!)

Robin, that is awesome news! He's so precious! We are so lucky you've shared him here. :highfive:
You bet! it's better then going backwards! :roflmao2: :roflmao2:
Hi Robin
Ditto what Jean said.
I want to reach through my monitor and be friends with Petey.
Flying backwards isn't that uncommon for birds with... ahhh.... being nice.... not a proper clip. Not to get into flight dynamics. When they don't have the long flight feathers that bend up as the wing comes down, that pushes the air back and them forward, it's hard for them to fly. When they flap without them they go backwards.
Glad he's doing so good!

That's good to hear, Jim, cos before Shirley and you mentioned it, well, I was thinking poor Petey might have something more wrong than a bad clip job...;)... like maybe a brain-wiring problem or something. I'd never seen a bird go backwards.... He wants sooo bad to fly, so we're still doing finger-flying exercises near the floor.
I think he may be starting to get a littl' belly-dimple....:beerchug: . Well, not literally, but it is rewarding to see him grow. His food pigging has slowed-up and weight the same for over a week.
He got his first little 'mini-bath' over the weekend... I put him in the bottom of the cleaned bath tub and just turned the fawcet on and splashed the falling water in my fingers to make noise and movement, and after a few minutes, he ventured over to the water on his own from the opposite end of the tub and starting doing what we would hope and expect....!!! I didn't let him get too wet - I just wanted it to be a positive experience and give him a chance to start practicing 'zipping' his wet feathers. He busied himself with that for quite awhile.:D
Hey, all, thanks for tolerating and supporting my excitement at all of these little steps in the baby process... it is very rewarding and just so wonderful to share with those who understand the happiness.

Tropic girl- I was reading your recipes and you say 1 cup of a lot of stuff. Does that mean a cup of each one of those items or one cup that contains all those items. It is the birdie cornbread.

This is not the first time I've been accused of 'not keeping up' with the times. I don't even have internet at home.
Maybe now that I'm on this forum during the day (only while I'm "working", but not "working"), I can get me some education about world-events.
Maybe someone can explain to me why I cannot see the farthest right side of emoticons on my screen when I type a new message. There's, like, 5 in each row, but I can only see the first four. And it's not cos I need to scroll over; my browser is as BIG as it can get. In the top row the last one I see is the red-face to the right of the green-face grin. I know there's another one next to it, cos on other rows I can see just a slight part of the face that is in the 5th column. I know something is there... is this cos I'm a junior member and when I grow up I'll have access to the 5th row of icons?

Emotions ??? What emotions ??? You can see me when I p----ed off ??? What is up here ???
I never trusted Shirley. I knew she was up to something.
No, I don't think the world is out to get me, even though it is...
Oh... THOSE emotions.

Gary: I can only see you when you leave the camera over your monitor turned ON... otherwise, I can't see a thing.;) You can also throw a hanky over the camera - that would also prevent me from seeing your emotions.
EmotiCons.... the happy faces, sad faces....???
Shirley just showed me how to upload pics, so I'm embarrassed to tell her I'm also have trouble with the smiley face things.....
I DO know how to use my cell phone that I recently got, though....
