My girlfriend in Nashville sent me the weekly publication from St. Thomas Hospital featuring her Macaw, Henry.
Seems Henry is being used for Pet Therapy in an enclosed atrium, located by the waiting room at the hospital. Some of the stories:
A visitor walked up to the glass and placed their open hand against the glass in front of Henry. He reached over and placed his foot against the glass on his side, matching their gesture. Another visitor did a similar thing but leaning their forehead against the glass, so did Henry.
When leaving at night the staff of the family waiting room desk says "Good bye, Henry" and he then tells the whole waiting room in his loud voice "Bye" several times and then says, "Henry going home" and laughs.
Many employees also shared that when they are having a tough day, they stop by to visit Henry for a little while and they go back to work refreshed and the day seems better.
If it's too cold or hot, Henry gets a day off!
Just wanted to share this with you.
