View Full Version : Hi on a Sunny Saturday!!!
Hi Everyone,
It's lovely today, its Cup Final day (football)and it is always good weather on CF day. It's just been really windy fo days.
Kristie does Trevor watch it?
We are planning to have a big clean up today, the bathroom men were here til 8pm last night and are coming back to finish (allegedly) this morning, he's just phoned to say he's overslept. We are now into week 4:foot-tap:
Dave has a gig tonight and it's a good venue so looking forward to that.
We have decided to look for a break somewhere near Stratford on Avon (Shakespear Country) for the week before I start the new job, hopefully find a cottage by the river. With all the upheaval we decided we need some time at home to get straight and also some time away to chill out. If we went abroad for a week it would be a mad rush to get the house done and get packed and ready.:funny:

Ugggg, still playing the painful back thing here, prob a pulled muscle giving me trouble, only bothers me when i stand or tilt a certain way, gonna shag our 17 yr old Doxie of "his" heating pad on my chair, and share it with him,,,ad try to find some relief.
Throwing plans around for either today or tomorrow to drive down to Shirley's, appears like today might be the day to go, since it looks like she moved some appointments around to Sunday,,,just have a few things i need to take care of on this end, b4 i am able to head down.About a two hr drive to Shirley and Steve's from me. i really hate to do the short notice visit thing,,,we were planning this around this time, but i PM'ed Shirley last nite about either today or tomorrow,,,'
Oh well, off to the heating pad for a lil bit to help get my day started, Not the way i planned to spend my vacation,,,,Grrrrrr!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning! :wavey: We have a filtered sunlight today with a cool breeze. They said it may reach 70 today. I think the weather predictor may be a bit off on it's calculations.
Bill, I hope you can curl up with a good book. That always helps to soothe the mind and soul. :highfive:
Sue, the light and white colors should look fresh and clean. I usually do the white or light colors. Then add any "color or colors" The American spelling. I choose to change with the seasons. :) There is so much you can add with color, texture, and accessories.
Jeff, sorry to hear your are suffering again with your back. I have lived with my spinal stenosis and post surgery damage for years and know the feeling so well. :grouphug:It's amazing how good the heat feels.
MAjj, it seems I am always here to wish you a good nights sleep. Our time is day and night.Hope your sleep puts you on :cloud9: .
Hi ! :wavey: to all the rest that haven't made it yet today. I hope everyones day is perfect for day them.

Majj, maybe you're waking up about now? :funny:
Sue, I'll think happy thoughts for you and your workers.;)
Jeff, bummer about the back, I hope you got to visit Shirley and you had a good time.
Bill, there's nothing like a good book to make the day go right. :woot:
Jean, I have Spinal Stenosis too. Mine's congenital. How long have you had yours? I hope that you can find some relief.
Have a great weekend ya'all.

Evening All!
Still saturday, not sunny anymore , at least not where i am, (10pm.)
Got back from Shirley and Steve's a few hrs ago, had a great time, and visit.
We traded some aquarium livestock, I visited with all their feathered flock, still tried to make friends with the cat,,a lil better, took a while b4 it bit me, LOL.
but we parted ways on good terms.haha,,
Spent some time with a cool tarantula,,,(gonna have to ask Shirley to post the pics,,,)anything else concerning my "spider time" ,,,no comment, i promised,,,;) .
Visited Nobleville's largest bedroom aviary, and was part of a multi -Bourke flyby,,,picked out my newest feathered friend, a male Bourke that seemed to take to me very quickly, although i think he would have acted the same way to anyone,,,
Shirley, "Coral" made the trip home w/ no problems, Steve was right, the millet kept him busy for most of the trip:agree: . it was just starting to get dark when i introduced him to his new home, so i put him up for the night , and will check up on him in the morning. Will try to get some pics of him then.
I'm sure Shirley will post pics of our visit soon here,,,
Have a good nite everyone,or start of a new day to those "across the pond":wavey:

Hmmm. So now all of Hamilton County knows the truth about our ... um ... bedroom... hmmm. Nothing like the sounds of the forest while you sleep and wake up!
We had a Marvelous Time as always when Jeff makes his rare appearance... we are due up there next, though!
:beerchug:

And Skyler also made a new friend!!

And I REALLY DO HATE IT when Troy wanders in the bedroom with one of these beasts on his person... with no warning to me ahead of time... I probably got the attention of the local law enforcement without even dialing 911!!!

LOL, I knew Shirley would not wait long to post the day's pics. Having managed a pet shop in my early days, i have not much fear of that many animals, most times its the lack of caution that gets me into trouble(Shirley's cat etc.) i think every animal likes me,since i like them,,,i know when to give them time to get used to me upon first meetings,,,When i was in Florida, in addition to all the other dogs i met there, i came across a lady with two mini dachshunds in tow, i walked right up to her/them , and started petting them,,With a shocked look on her face, the lady said during the whole week of being there, I was the first and only one they did not bark ,and carry on over,,,i said they knew i was a doxie person,,and when i said that i was getting one of them to twist and contort while scratching them in the doxie fav spot on their neck, and i mentioned , i knew all their favorite spots to scratch,,,LOL
being around all the animals i've had over the years, and my time at the pet shop, i can't say i have much fear of any animal,,granted i do have respect for those that can do me harm,
I quess part of my ease with animals makes it ez to be the one that the Police K9's take a "bite " of, while doing protection/apprehension training, the full bite suit and bite sleeve help somewhat also, LOL. the best part of that training ,is while the dogs are hell bent on getting a hold of you,(and do)as soon as the command is given to "out" and they release,i can pretty much lose the bite sleeve, and proceed to pet them , and they know it's a "game" or job, and hold no resentment towards me after the training, they are just happy, playful "puppies".Some law enforcement agencies has dogs that are "on" all the time, and not safe around anyone, good guy or bad guy,,the ones i'm involved with are just the opposite,,they do their job, and are "off" when not. we trained a Rottie once for police work, and had the officers wife and newborn in the same training room during this,,He would "takedown" the bad guy(me) and when released, would walk over to give the baby a wet slurp, and wag his lil stump of a tail...we've taken plenty of police trained K9's to schools etc, for visits, and the kids and dogs loved interacting with each other,
You need the good stuff to counteract the bad "press" on this issue IMO...
Sorry for the long ramble, just wanted to say i had another great time at Shirley and Steve's and hope to do it again soon.

Did you allow him to venture to your neck?
Jean , pretty much did so, it would crawl from my hand to my chest and up n over ,to where i did not know where it was at, and had to have Shirley's son retrieve it,did not want to harm his lil buddy.
If this helps, i did not feel anything from the spiders contact to me,hardly felt it on my hand/arm etc.it was a lil smaller than the ones i've handled in the past,,you can kinda feel the sensation of the "furry" legs and body on the larger ones.
It would scurry a lil faster at times, and that worried me ,as far as me not wanting to have it fall from me, and get injured.
I was more concerned about getting "perforated" by the birds playing, more than the tarantula,,,LOL

Jeff, here is a pic of Al napping in the family room 20 years ago. After Al came home from the hospital after his severe heart attack he always seemed to have plenty of doxie companion. :highfive: That is left to right Sir Hans, and Baron Von Schnitzel-fritz. We both chuckle when we look at that ic with those long sideburns. I'm not telling him I posted this pic.

Oh Jean how adorable! And what a cutie! Yep, way back in the 70's Steve had those sideburns too!
Jeff is right... you can't just pick the tarantulas up, you have to let them crawl onto you, so once down your backside, you have to have them crawl onto something or someone, and being arboreal, the pintoes, they are quicker in their movements.
sorry 'bout your hearing, Jeff... no control when the spiders enter a room!

Shirley, don't blame u girl, lol I can handle all creatures (mostly) except for spiders!!! ewwwwwwwww
Jeff how neat you got to help train police dogs!! That would be my profession if I could have it, lol. I love training and could probably do it as a job, hehehe Also great to hear about training that rottie, I know they always get the bad rap :( It's not fair, everytime someone asks me what kind of dog I have, it's always a resounding "OH!!"
So you got any training pics??

SWEET!! Thanks Jeff :D
That has to be an exciting task!! hehehe Wish I could be there to watch & learn :agree: Rotties & Shepherds Rock, don't they??
I would also have loved to be a foster home and train dogs for handicapped persons. I would be real good at that. I trained my 1st pup as a child to distinguish between my "moms" slippers and my "dads" slippers and tell my dog to go get mama's slippers and he would get the right pair, hehehe. The only problem w/fostering is that they are adorable pups and after you work w/them, I can imagine you'd get attached, but a good thing to let them go to benefit someone who really needed him. Oh well, I think that one would be out since the birds.

I'm in   with those dogs!! I've always loved Shepherds and Dobermans!!
Years ago ('75-79) when I lived in Florida (Lakeland) I raised and obedience trained Dobermans. My dream was to someday have a Schutzhund-trained Doberman. Never happened.
Thank you for the photos, Jeff!
