When Jean posted her "Loosing Daddy" post I though it was informative and something that most people probably haven't thought of and I suggested she send it to Parrots Magazine for publication.
For some reason her email wouldn't send to them so she forwarded to me to send......guess what!!.......
They want to do a DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD!!!:
and have asked for more pic's: Not sure which issue yet but i'll keep you informed!:
So sad the reason for the article but Al will always be remembered.

I am glad to hear they are wanting to do the article! I am sure it will help others who are trying to help their birds and themselved cope with the loss of a loved one. :wub: Congratulations Jean & Elvie!!

Jean, that story is what brought me back here. I just surfed you site looking for updates, and saw that "Loosing Daddy" page. I was in tears as well. I know what you & Elvie went through had to be so hard. I'm glad to see your spirits lifted some.

It's in the works, they'll let us know the date it will go to print as soon as they notify me I'll let you all know.
Thank you Barb, I was in tears as I wrote it however, I felt it was important for others to know how sad and emotional our companion
parrots can be when they loose a loved one.

After I was done reading, I thought of an observation that may come from that tragic day. Even though it was so very very hard for you & Elvie to see first hand the trama of such a loss, and Elvie had to see all the commotion around him with the paramedics, I really think it was good in a way for him to see that. I think, even though the loss is real, it may have helped him understand what was going on with Al. That he did understand that he was actually 'gone' and not as if he just walked out the door and he never saw him again.
I know they sense things. Dogs are empathetic to owners health problems or even death of a loved one or another dog member, even alerting owners of potential problems.
I'm so glad to see you standing strong, especially for Elvie. I continue to pray for you, and my thoughts are always with you. :wub:

Wow Jean that is so exciting. I am sure it will open some peoples eyes that don't even think that birds can greave. I am so glad you could open your heart and share your stoy with others all over the world.
