These are some pictures from the annual picnic my bird club has each year (all these birds are disease tested, most by the same vet).

Here is me, Jack, Di and Angel, who is the cockatoo that taught me they're not all scary biters:

Here's a closeup of Angel's beak, so you can see why I wasn't scared of her (besides the fact that she's one of the sweetest birds I've ever met):

Hubby petting Angel:

This is me and Sisko (who has a very rough history--he lived in a shed, by himself for a long, long time with nothing to do but mutilate himself; he's now so sweet that despite being macaw-shy, I didn't resist for a second in offering him a place to hang out while his buddy, Angel, was running the cockatoo race; his tail is so ratty because he loves running around on the ground and his nest is behind his cage, so it gets messed up by the bars, too):

This is Sisko, flapping as he's returning to his stand (the folicle damage is so bad, that chest promises to always look like that):

This is Angel and Sisko (and I can't remember the triton's name) who all own the same person (Angel is crying like a baby in this picture and her foot is up in the hopes that ANYone will lift her into their arms--she has been on their about 10 seconds, LOL):

Here is me and Angel (and Di) again:

Here's Jack:

Here's Di (she was so happy to see the car, as she always is--she loves riding in it, that she hopped onto the window as soon as she was close enough and didn't move as I--carefully--opened the door and took pictures):

Here are Jack and Di, giving each other love (I have no idea what's on Di's beak, I think it's potato salad):

Here's a picture of the club president's parrots (and one visiting B&G) in order from left to right (Bingo, Ricky the 'too, visiting B&G whose name I don't remember, Tiko the 'zon and Gracie the grey):

Bingo playing stick-em-up:

They are ALL great, but my favorite is the birdie in the car window! Love the angle and expression!

Thanks! The goofball gets excited whenever she sees the car! She's never just hopped on before, though. I thought it was a great photo op :)

They are all good pics. I melt when I see the one of Angel and wonder how long her beak has been split. That poor baby, I imagine the pain that caused. I am sure they must have to feed her a special diet.

Actually, Angel hatched with the scissorbeak. I'm not sure about her diet, I didn't ask. But with her personality, I don't think anyone wouldn't go out of their way to make a special diet for her. She is sooooo sweet, never bites (although she is a mole preener) and loves to cuddle (as you can see). I love getting to spend time with her! Her momma is also Sisko's momma and she's done so great with them!

Never saw a scissor beak like that one. :scratchch Is it a duel split or single split? I have seen too in person with a duel cut in that area of the lower mandible that resembles that. The poor bird had problems eating certain foods. I would think it would bother her to eat certain foods also. :scratchch
She looks like an adorable and very sweet U2.

I can't figure out how she would eat pellets, that's for sure! It's not an actual split, it's a twist. Her upper mandible twists away rather than going down like it's supposed to. They said she's never displayed any pain symptoms, but being born like that, you never can tell! She's a real darling, though!

I went back and looked with a magnifying glass and could see it is just a powder beak line instead of a cut in the lower mandible. I did notice the twist, I was thinking it was both, my misconception.

Ahh! I understand. She has something in her beak in one of the pictures, made it look like part was missing!
