Jean - The aviary is huge with loads of birds in. most of them are sadly unwanted pets, but it's nice they have such a lovely big space, and many of them have paired up. The scarlet macaw is not in the aviary, this one was free sat on stand with the branches, as we went into the park.
There is a notice not to feed them, but this old guy, clearly a regular came over with a little bag of biscuits for them all...

what a pretty scarlet and that Hyacinth is just gorgeous....I love the Hys they are definantly the gentle giants of the macaw world..i had the amazing experiance of being able to hands on with 2 of them last summer the gal I work for got (2) 3 month old babies...now talk about the highlight of the my job I was just in awe of these guys watching them grow and develope personality..well according to my husband they don't have much personality more of a couch potato of the bird world they are not overly active but they do play and have fun like other macaws....I tell ya if I had a bigger house and win the lottery I would have on in a hearbeat...but having the experiance to help raise 2 of them was just as much fun.

Kristi, you are so correct, many people think they are doing a good deed by feeding them and do not abide by the signs.

:thanx: again for the beautiful pics. :thanx: Shirley for resizing them for Kristi.
