Here's my "blended family" of babies. The two dark pink rosie bourkes are the little widow's babies. The bright-eyed multicolored chick is one of their cousins (long story). Then of course we have the tiny parrotlet whose parents abandoned their nest. My wonderful opaline fallow hen cared for all four of these babies, and she did it without a mate for 11 days! Bourkes are such fabulous birds. I just can't say enough about them!

Thanks. :) This pair really did produce some beautiful babies. I'm sad that I lost the male. :( I'm going to replace him with a normal male that is supposedly split for opaline and fallow, so it will be interesting to see what they produce. I have another pair of rosies that produce this same intense salmon color, but instead of having all the yellow on the wings, they have deep shades of charcoal gray...and then bright turquoise rumps. Sooooo pretty. And my normals have gone to nest! Woohoo!! :woot: I love bourkes. Have I said that enough?

Awesome! Hope you get some gorgeous normals now.

Our baby, who hatched on the 21st, never did grow much... he was well-fed, he was very active... but remained very tiny. We lost him this past Saturday night. :( He was fine, wiggling around and fed, then he was found gone in the nestbox a few hrs later... :( Something was congenitally wrong with him - he just never developed.
