This isnt about birds but it is about my cat Kaymen
I noticed it Friday night, she has little bloody patches on the think patches above her eyes

this is a pic from Friday night

and today it looks like all the blood is dried up but I cant tell if its getting better

do any of you have any clue what this is??
Ive checked her for fleas and all the animals are clear of them, and this is the only spot she has them, above both eyes, the rest of her doesnt have a scratch or anything, she is an indoor cat, never goes outdoors

this is what it looks like today (Monday)

I just sent the pic to one of my friends, and she said it looks like allergies, her old cat got the same spots, when she took her to the vet, she said allergies

could this be allergies? she doesnt seem to be itchy or anything?

Brandy, I have no idea! Are there sores behind her bloody spots? Does she act like it is itchy? Is she scratching it? Could she of been fed any of any of that (poisoned) cat food lately?

nope se doesnt seem to be itchy and there just seems to be little ptaches of blood, they are not swelled or anything, I never really washed any of them because Im kinda grossed out, i will take a q-tip and try to wash one and see what happens

nope theres no chance Kaymen was fed any of the food, I dont feed wet food to any of my animals, all cats/dogs are on dry kibble

I'm so glad tainted food is ruled out. Good idea to clean it to see what it looks like under the bloody areas so you can let Dr. C know.

Poor thing, could it be an insect bite of some sort:confused:

Could she have gotten into something? Rubbed her head on it or gotten it on her feet and rubbed her face?:shrug2:

check inside the ears for dirt build up and clean the ears a well as you possibly can. using cotton swabs and or gauze pads. when i had cats the ears would get dirty and thus cause the cat to try to scratch inside, and in the process they would develope those type of marks between the eye and ear. if the problem persists take her to a vet and have them check for ear mites.

Brandy-so sorry it has taken me this long to respond

Looks like an allergic reaction and I will be surprised if she does not start scratching it. 90% of cat skin allergies are to fleas and the other 10% are to food. I think it interesting that you just changed her food and this happened...I am not a big believer in coincidence.

This is what I recommend:

1. Take her to her Doc.

2. Do NOT put anything on her skin-I find this makes kitties start to itch, if they haven't already.

3. Avoid plastic food/water dishes. Plastic degrades over time and emits fumes which can irritate skin.

4. Consider switching to canned food-all my kitties are on canned food now. Research in the past few years has definitely linked dry food (high carbohydrate) to diabetes in cats, who require a high protein diet. Canned food is really much better for cats who are true carnivores.

Dr C, we switched her back to her old food and within one day basically, all the bloody pathches, scabbed and fell off, now she just has a little pink spot where the scab was, her skin also started going all flaky like she had dandruff

she is going on 5 and this is the first problem we've ever had like this

good to know about the wet food,,,,I NEVER knew that, i thought they needed the dry kibble for their teeth

is it the same with dogs as well? or are dogs alright on dry kibble?

Dry is OK for dogs; some cats won't eat canned and they are like birds-they can starve if they won't eat-so watch when switching foods ;)
