I bought a puzzle box for bob, it's got little counters and shaped discs with pegs on (to pick them up i guess) and a little box, with slots for the counters
I started clicker training with him, and we got to Bob picking up the counter, so I click, but I can't give him the treat cos he just flew off with the counter in his mouth!! in the end he was getting narky cos he didn't understand what I wanted, and kept flying off, so we called it a day. but at least he picked up the counter.
I have a set of pegs and rings for basil, we'll see what she makes of it!

Think bob may have been scared by the clicker, I did it when he was in his cage to see his reaction (giving him treat straight after, of course) this was suggested in the book, and he didn't seem scared of it then.

also, he i noticed he was storing the treats in his crop and eating them later... so wasn't bothered about taking more treats after I'd given him 4 or 5!:foot-tap:

Kristie, that's wonderful!

Which book do you have?

I've not heard of a bird "storing food in its crop to eat later"... ??

Did you start with the target stick?

I don't know how I missed this post!

That sounds good Kristie!

I have the same questions as Shirley asked?
Now, one more ~ how is the training going?

I am starting clicker training with Bucc, but first I have had to train myself, I talk with my hands so needed to stop that. I was practising on a macaw puppet, Jemma thought I had gone mad, Mum's training a teddy!!!!:roflmao2:

How is the training going, and what book is it that you have.
