First off, I have had to move from my wife and my bathroom to Chloe's "nest" the guest bathroom. The outlets in our bathroom are taken up with hair dryers, curling irons, electric toothbrush, etc. I added an outlet on my end of the counter but she took it over with a sonic jewelry cleaner and her steam rollers. So Chloe and I share the same bathroom.

Now. Chloe is allowed to wander and play in any part of the house with very little supervision. I know that is bad but she and I know each other so well, that if she is into anything, I know it and go find her. Plus she is never far away. If I am on the computer she will wander in and chew on the box I have for her or play with a few toys or just watch me. If I'm watching TV it isn't long and she is in playing or up in my lap. If she really gets bored she goes and climbs up on top of her cage and contemplates the true meaning of life.

But one thing that you have to know. If she comes over and steps on my foot, that means "I want up, NOW!" If I ignore her, she will start chattering and jumping up and down on my foot. She usually just wants some reassurance that she is still my girl and I still love her and off she goes again.

Well, If I start up my electric razor, no matter where she is, she comes running and stands on my foot. "Pick me up NOW!" At first I put her in the sink so she wouldn't try and jump off on the tile floor. She has no wings to break her jump. She loved it. She picked at the razor cord or at the stopper in the bottom or just stood watching me shave. When I was finished I took her out and put her on the floor and off she went.

About two weeks ago, instead of putting her in the sink, I put her up on the counter top. She made no attenpt to jump off. She picked at the faucet and some soap packets and the razor cord, but made no attempt to jump off. She wanted to be with me while I shaved and brushed my teeth. I put her down and off she went.

This is EVERYTIME I start up my electric razor. No matter what time of the day. EVERYTIME, she comes running and chattering and jumps on my foot.

Last week, I paid for and downloaded the ebook "Everthing you need to know about Cockatoo's". As I was printing it out I ran across a section that said Cockatoo's, generally, like baths over showers. I didn't give it much thought until this morning.

I turned on my razor. Here she came. I put her up on the counter top but this time, I had the sink full of 78.6 degree water. She leaned over and investigated it. She even took a few drinks from it. She prefers warm water to drink. On a whim, I picked her up under her chest and slowly lowered her into the water, feet first. The water came up just under her wings. She was not the least bit afraid. She stood there staring, as if she was remembering something. She turned to me and chattered a little but made no move to get out.

I didn't want to overdo my experiment, so I took her out after about a minute. I didn't try to put water over her back or wings. I just let her stand there. I dried her off with her towel and took her in and sat in our chair. She was just as calm and just snuggled up under my chin.

Over this past year, she and I have become even more close than before. She is really opening up and enjoying life again. There are instances that happen, that make me believe that at some time in her life, she was treated very good. I only know about the last five years before I got her but I am convinced that there was a time before that, that she was treated good.

I sure wish I could find out the rest of the story. I know there was a nephew involved but no one seems to know how.
