This turned into quite an eventful day (so much for my day off). I was driving down the road and saw what I thought was road kill. Then I saw it MOVE!

I pulled off to the side and found it was a black bird and he had apeared to have broken his wing. I was on my way to sort through more of my moms belongings (she died back in January). So I scooped up the bird using one of my moms old shirts and my aunt and uncle were on a walk and just happened by. I followed them back to my uncles house and got a box to put him in since I thought I would have to keep him with me for the night. I found out the bird was much more lively then I thought and managed to jump right out of the box. I was glad to see he had that kind of strength but this made things more difficult for me at the same time. When I got back to my grandmothers she told me that another one of my uncles called and he wanted me to meet him somewhere. I called him and told him about the bird I found on the road and he had recently rescued an injured wild bird as well. So he had the number to call for this sancuray to pick the bird up in the moring if I leave him in this holding cage for the night. I stopped by one more time to make sure he had water and will be checking on him to see if they got him in the morning.

That was ice of you to help the injured bird. I am sure he is terrified of his injury and being captured. Hopefully, the sanctuary will be there to pick him up early to give it medical care.

What a great coincident that you were traveling on that road at that particular time. Someone else may have just driven on by and left the bird there. I hope the bird made it safely to the sanctuary and they were able to help it.

I went to check to make sure they picked him up and they had so I just got the tshirt I used to hold him. A lady that worked there came out and thanked me for bringing in the bird and I left.

vmwriter I would guess given where the bird was in the road someone else most likely would have just driven over him.
