Guess I'm supposed to come on and say "hi" to everyone *grin*. I have two parrots...or more to the piont.."they have me". "Bubba" is a 3 year old yellow cheek amazon. I got him as a baby. He's very loving and playful. He talks quite a lot for one of the no-so-big-talking amazons. He says things like "good boy", "how are you", "here kitty kitty", "Bubba shut up already" and other stuff :D 5 months ago our lives were blessed with a new addition - a 7 year old Timneh Grey. He belonged to an old couple and sadly the wife passed and the hubby could no longer keep "Pepper". He ended up at the local pet store where they were trying to find him a new home. In 7 years he'd never been out of his cage, never had a toy to play with and eaten nothing but seeds. We LOVE him (that's him in my avatar). He now has a sunroom that he shares with Bubba, painted to look like a rainforest. He has two tree stands covered in toys (he still doesn't know how to play though) and a walk-in outdoor flight cage for the summer. His vocab is unlimited...for instance, yesterday alone he said (amongst other things and awesome noises..) "Are you coming, I've been waiting here forever" "Okay then, I'm not waiting any longer I'm going without you". "You're just trying to make yourself look like a chef" And of course if he has us running one more time to answer the phone that HASN"T RUNG !!!!! HAHAHHAHAHA !!!! He even has his own real Pomegranite tree which we bought on a trip to California.
I'm glad I found y'all and am looking forward to reading as many posts as possible.

Thank you all for such a wonderful welcome. I know I'm going to have loads of questions especially regarding Pepper. Getting him out of his cage was a huge step (as he'd never been out in 7 years) and now he loves to "step up" and come out but he will not let me touch him anywhere and has no clue what a toy is. Oh well...slow and steady that what I figure. He has a forever home with us and my now 13 year old boy is lined up to take him should he out live hubby and I.
See if I can share a pic of two...here goes... Bubba and Pepper:emot-danc

I'm not surprised he doesn't allow you to touch him. Greys are generally one-person birds. Holly (above) steps up for a lot of people, but won't allow even my husband to touch her. She plays with him, but no touching. She gives him air kisses, but no touching. I was out of the country for 3 weeks, during which time she never allowed him to touch her once, but treated me as though I'd never left when I returned.
On the other hand, after a few months, she may take to you completely. Her other person is not there anymore... and she may decide to allow touching. Touching isn't a big part of a Grey's life... talking to them, playing games, etc is. And Holly is not big into toys, but Sammy (young male CAG) is.

Welcome to BoF  Nice to hear that you adopted an older bird....they need homes just as much as the little ones do ;) Sounds like he is a very lucky guy :D
Come anytime and ask all the questions you want. There are alot of knowledgable folks here that will be able to help you...and if not...will be able to lead you in the right direction to find the answer.
So come often and have fun.... and again welcome to the "Flock" :)
