Here is a few pictures of Gemini, taken today after finding he had plucked himself during the night/early morning. We are taking him to the vet as soon as possible, but are hoping it isn't anything more than he got a bit freaked out by the storm we had last night.

None of these really show the full extent of his plucking, he has plucked his legs, under his wings and is starting on his neck. :(

Aww bless him. He's so pretty isn't he, unusual colouring. I hope that there's nothing wrong with him and that he'll stop plucking as quickly as he started x

Thanks Kristie, I never really knew the utter frustration that a bird parent feels when they see their bird plucking/picking. I'm hoping that he just got freaked out by the storm, better that than some problem.

Thanks Brandy, I'm hoping that it was the storm and he leave his feathers well alone, But we are taking him to the vet just to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry.

Wow -- :( So sad how much damage they can do is such a short time... and yes, it's a very helpless feeling... :(
Hugs for you and yours

Hi Peta, have you seen the vet yet, if so what did they say? I hope he's stopped doing it now anyway.
Poor little sweetheart! I hope he's OK.

Thanks everyone, We have the vets tomorrow so hopefully we'll know a bit more. Oh I know we may never know why he does this but I'm hoping he will say that it is because of the storm, No matter what we are gonna love him just the same just don't want there to be any underlying problem.
Thank you so much for all your support, it means a lot. I'm trying to keep Jemma calm, as she has exams to do tomorrow and I don't want her worrying about it, at the same time I know how much this is worrying her. :(
:thanx: :thanx:

Peta ask the DR. if you can put bitter apple on Gemini I use it on my pups when they chew there feet, just to discourage them and it works.I tasted it yuck!don't know if its safe for birds but a drop here and there
may make him feel that all his feathers taste awful.just a thought:shrug:

Thanks Scotty can't do no harm to ask him.
We had an appointment today, but as we were in the waiting room a man came in with his Too, in a really bad way :( We ended up swapping appointments. Will explain more a little later on. We now have appointment at 4.45.

Awww....poor little baby :( I feel for you because of the frustration of not knowing what has caused this...and for him for going through whatever it is that is causing him to pluck.
Good luck and keep us updated on what is happening with him.

Poor buy. After he calms down and forgets the other night, he will be ok. He sure is pretty even with his missing feathers.
