Hi Brandy - no I don't feed him outside of his home, but I may do as he gets bigger, he went for my hand the other day!
Normally he's in his cave anyway, so I just drop the food in and he comes out afterwards.

Sue - Kaa is the snake in The Jungle Book!

Awesome pic, Kristie!
We feed ours in their enclosure if there's only one, or if it's just the baby snakes. We feed the older snakes separately... either on the floor in front of us, or in tubs with lids if we are too busy to sit and babysit them... because if we fed them all in their habitat, they might strike the same mouse, or one might start trying to eat a mouse another snake has already started on. (the mice are dead.)

A side note... in case anyone is concerned about snakes eating mice: feeding snakes mice is done in a more humane manner than raising beef or chickens for slaughter, and sending them to slaughter. Also, humans can thrive as vegetarians, but most of us choose not to... snakes cannot eat vegetable material. And corn snakes can't / won't eat insects. Actually, they are a tremendous benefit to the farmers - living in fields and barns and cleaning out whole nests of mice.

Kristie - her color is gorgeous in that photo... take some move of her for us!

And I didn't know Kaa was the snake in Jungle Book! Cool!

Troy wanted to name our normal baby corn that hatched last year Khan for some reason, so I said "Khanzie" since I figured it needed two syllables!

OFF Topic

Shirley, we had a cat named Khan, him and our Kaymen were siblings, so we named them Kaymen and Khan

Khan unfortunately didnt like being an indoor only kitty, and he LOVED getting into peoples garbage, we lived in an apartment then and our landlord started poisioning stray cats,,,I was scared Khan would get poisioned because he was outdoors and in the garbage as well so for his own safety he went and lived with my best friend Shannon, he is happy there, she lives in the country so he has lots of places to hunt and he has a nice loving home when he wants to be indoors!!!

I love the name Khan!! hehe

You're doing great, Peta! I'll have to scan a photo someday of this older lady smiling and holding our first Pitre... like others, she was terrified of snakes, and then like others, she said, "He's too pretty to be afraid of, and he moves so slowly!"
