Hi All,
Well after a couple of nice days, it's blowing a gale here today:eek:

Hi Missi, great to see ya back yesterday, you don't get away that easily.

We're having a few weeks of dilemmas here...... some of you know that Dave was to be made redundant in July after 40 years at the same company:mad: well after getting to the stage when we had started to accept it, they have now offered him a job in another company in the group, same job (Quality Control Manager) same salary, less hours, less pressure.
After tons of discussion over the weekend he is going to take it as they said he can still get his redundancy pay after a trial period if he doesn't like the job. Whats a bit difficult to take is his pay off would have been a year and a half's salary tax free:doh: but we looked at the long term and although he's only probably going to work for 4 more years we'll be better off in the long run. My first reaction was tell them to stuff it but we have to think of us.;)

Dilemma 2...... Again some of you know my ex boss the Sales & Marketing Director, left our company at Christmas to start on his own, well he rang me yesterday to offer me a job!!!! I sort of half expected it but now I have another decision to make, I like my job here but since he left things haven't been the same. I would be happy to hear anyones opinion:highfive:

Oooerr.
hmm.
Well.
I used to work for a 'large' company on the Island and they well known and big employer and pay well. I was made redundant along with 100's of others, and I said I'd never go back, but I soooo would if I could! the pay, and 'easy life' are just to much of a thing to ignor!
pride sometimes stops us from making the decisions that would benefit us most.

As for the second dilemma Sue, that's a tough one. I always say, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix though.... unless, he's offering you a better salary. Don't you currently work from home though? I'd LOVE to find a job where I could do that!

Thanks for the input Kristie... my working set up would be exactly the same.:woot:
My head office now is in London and my ex boss's new company is in Hove, so commuting is not an option:roflmao2:
Yes working from home is great:dance: but you do have to be diciplined though, especially in summer. What i like about it is as long as the work is done it doesn't matter when as long as i'm around for customers, so if I need to take time out i can.

I'm just getting a strange feeling that something is going on at head office as the new boss doesn't seem interested, he had all these plans then never mnetions them again, it's just a gut feeling:scratchch .
My ex boss was the best and it was him that originally, then with mine and a colleague's help built this business up to what it is today.

In that case maybe go work for your old boss? How do you work from home? or to put another way, what do you do from home if you don't mind me being nosy. I keep wondering how I can find a job which I can work from home! I have main office skills, typing, all that stuff, and computer skills.

Tis a bit blowy today isn't it!

Kristie I work for a Fuel Card Agency. Basically we sell fuel cards to businesses (except we don't actually sell them as they're free) we have brands like BP & Texaco and we are authorised to sell their products.
I started as sales advisor but am now account manager which means I look after all the reps accounts.
It's a nice job and pays well...plus I get the perks of a free laptop and internet.

If you want to work from home you sound like you have the skills, I would suggest you maybe look on the internet for networking jobs or working remote, I think there's a website for people who work from home.
STAY AWAY from those adverts that say "send £25 for a pack about working from home" . My job was advertised in the "Grocer " magazine which is where all the blue chip companies advertise, and is a proper salaried job.
Don' go the stuffing envelopes route it pays peanuts (the birds might like it though:roflmao2: )
In this country people working remote has gone up by 50% in the last 3 years!
Another option ... if you like your current job, would it be possible for you to do it from home??

Sue,

What does your gut tell you to do in this situation? I pay attention to my gut feelings. If you feel that your present job is not going to provide you with the future you want then I would go with your former employer who is offering you a job. I imagine you are a very loyal employee and don't want to disrespect anyone. With that said, don't go disrespecting yourself either. Do what is best for you. I don't know if this helps you make your decision but I am certain you will choose the best for you.

I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for a new day. My back is not bothering me. I have to get going though as I have another busy day! Hopefully my office will be able to have my furniture moved into it today.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

 , Sue. I like what Bill said to you, I was going to say the same!:foot-tap: Sit down and make a list of all the good and bad for staying where you are or moving to the new job. It might help to clarify things for ya

Kristie, Don't blow away! So when do I get a letter?

:wavey: Jeff!

Bill, :tighthug: Glad you are feeling better:wub:

The weather is lovely here today :sunshines My boy insisted I take him to the local library last night :D After we got home, he blew my mind by reading half of his books with hardly any help from me! He has been a stinker about not wanting too all year, so to hear him read so well(though I knew he could) was wonderful!
Everyone have a lovely day!!!

Thanks for the input Bill & Missi. Great to hear about Thunder's reading :book2:

Bill I know what you mean about the instinct thing:highfive: I took this job on a gut feeling 4 years ago, I was deciding between this and another job that paid more but decided on this one because I just had a good feeling about it:agree:
When my boss left I wasn't sure whether my loyalties were to him or the company, he's the best boss i've had but the company have really looked after me too and I really thought this would be my last job.
I certainly won't go playing them off against each other for more money as I don't agree with that sort of thing.

My dilemma with the company now is, (I have no concrete evidence) but I just get the feeling things are happening like maybe the company will be sold, our parent company is a big property developer and they could close us down tomorrow if they wanted, although they hopefully won't as we are too profitable.
My former boss has asked for input too before our meeting in a few days and I believe he will give me responsibility as the company grows, that was supposed to be the case here but it just keeps getting put on hold which makes me think they are stalling for whatever reason:shrug2:
Maybe I should wait to see what he has to offer.
Thanks again, I know Bill, you had a similar dilemma recently:agree:

Good Afternoon!

I have a really late start going here....

Sue... I wouldn't know what to do... but maybe your current boss is one of those who THINKS big, but ACTS little... maybe he can't put his ideas into action, and moving on with your ex-boss is a good thing, but that's not advice.. that's just a curiosity on my part...

Good news about Thunder, Missi!! AND good to see you here, Missi!!

Sunny today, supposed to get up to 50-something.

~ Shirley :)

Good Morning Everyone! :wavey:

Missi, I am happy to see you here. We all miss you a lot. :tighthug:

Sue, That will be a big decision. I agree, a list of pro and con's is a good way to balance your thoughts. I also feel, a "gut" feeling is very important when it comes to ones future. Are you aware of the old boss and if he has a solid financial investment and backing of his new business. If he's a good business, man he has provided that as a solid foundation when he started building his new business. If not I would be skeptical of risking my future. Good Luck, on your decision.

After our children were grown I sought employment. I was fortunate to of been hired by a small but financially solid corporation. I enjoyed my employment with them for several years.

Wishing everyone a nice day! :)
