View Full Version : Here's Hoping
Wish us luck it's my tiels first visit to the vet to make sure he is all okay.
He seems to be doing well. The feathers that got pulled out by the other birds in the pet store are starting to gorw in. Still working on what foods he will and wont eat but he took right to a pellet diet. I had given him some pellet food as a treat and that was pretty much the end of him eating mostly seeds. So I am pretty sure everything will go well.
On a side note he was very cuddly last night. Instead of his usual cuddle up behind my ear and take a nap he was pressing his face beak first against my cheek.

Sounds wonderful!
I don't know his past... you are still giving him some seed, right? or some sprouts? Good luck at the vet's office!
Yes he is still getting some seed. I have some oat grain seed treat.

The smaller birds such as tiels still need a good well-balanced seed in their diet, along with some pellets, or in place of pellets, a good sprout/veggie mix.
Let us know how it goes! :)
I am glad she's getting some new feathers in. It should not take you any time at all to get her to bond with you. It sounds like you are doing pretty good already.
Great suggestions Shirley. Mage, Shirley raises a lot of small birds, She also has some beautiful baby Bourke's.

Sorry it took so long getting back to you all. But good news I have a 101.6 gram healthy baby fid. :D He said the yeast levels were a bit high but it wasnt unexpected given how long ago he got off baby formula and said as he gets futher on the regular bird diet that should go away.

How old is he?
My friend's 13 yr old 'tiel is large and weighs 89g, and Tucker feels plenty "fat" and weighs 90g. Tucker is kinda on the "big 'tiel" side and is 6-1/2 mos old. Of course, maybe he weighed him after a big meal...
So glad to hear he's healthy! :woot:

I am glad to hear your baby is healthy. Shirley may be correct, he could of had a full crop when he got weighed. If not, you have a cute big baby.
Yeah he must have been full since I know he isn.t fat. Im not totaly sure how old he is exactly but we were guessing maybe 6-10 weeks might be more. I do know the pet store had just recently taken him off baby formula. The vet did say I sould get some bird vitamins for him an mix it with some food. I cant remember exacly the brand the vet was suggesting but if any of you have any suggestions on that I will listen.
