Do you have a link to a photo of a rainbow Bourke? I've not heard of one...

Also, are they pink or Rosy? There's a difference... Rosy is peachier in color. Pink is more pink and lighter. Pinks are rare around here in my experience.

Noises don't intimidate Bourke's a bit, but it's nice they are socailizing them... I hope they are holding them and taking them out of their cage for an hour or so every day to tame them. They won't be tame just by being in a cage in the mainstream of the household. They need personal contact right now before they fledge.

Congratulations on your upcoming baby!

I recommend a healthy seed and fresh veggie mix with some a small pellet diet instead of cereal. I'd dump the Chex, Kix, and Cheerios.

Millet, egg food, hard boiled egg w/crushed shell, Higgins Parakeet mix or Higgins Fruit n Veggie mix or something similar, and something like Zupreme Parakeet size fruit or natural pellets, and fresh veggies such as peas, corn, grated carrots.

there rosey bourkes the breeder referred to one being rainbow and said that every time she has a rainbow there sold fast? she sent pictures and the one that she referred to as rainbow had yellow feathers mixed with brown as well as a pink body. Looked much like your PaPa bourke in color doesn,t he have some yellow feathers?mixed up now don't know weather to tell her 2 pinks or 1 pink and 1 what she calls rainbow.

Hmmm. Maybe if I called my babies that look like that, which is quite often, Rainbows, they'd sell faster and (joking) for more money. For us, it's not about the money at all. I've not heard of that color morph... and I don't see it on that site... and it's quite common to get a little yellow with blue on a Rosy Bourke's. I personally don't care for the yellow as it's just a hint of yellow and I like the intense Rosy color better. Ginny's Bourke's have more blue and I think some yellow, and they are Kilroy's babies.

You're welcome! If you lived closer... I'd put Kiloy's nest box back for you. Actually, she has one Rosy and one Normal baby now. One sold at the show.

I didn't find anything when I searched for "Rainbow" Bourke's, but I did find this link, and the bottom photo on the right looks a lot like some of Kilroy's babies, and I've never called them "pink".

Also, this aviary is sadly mistaken when they say bourke's do not make good pets, but are better suited for an aviary. I find they make excellent pets, are very friendly and outgoing, and love to fly, so living in an aviary, like they say, is ideal. Aviary life does not mean they cannot be excellent pets.

Shirley is right I have 3 (from her babies, 2 from Kilroy) and they are the best little bird pets in the world. I just love them. Mine are all flighted and they will fly around the room and land on me and give kisses and they say pretty bird and hay baby and Hi Shelby (they learned this from being at Shirley's house when they were just babies). You can just reach down and pick them up and they NEVER bite. I love them so much. I never knew they were such great birds. I don't think a lot of people know what great pets they make. But she does let the babies out all the time and they are all real social. They are also wonderful eye candy.

Thanks, Ginny!

I should point out, Scotty, that the REAL name for a Rosy Bourke's is Opaline Bourke's. The color is really called Opaline, but people say Rosy.
