Here is our little CAG...she loves to have her head rubbed, she loves to be cuddled. She is a little different than other CAGs though, her parents bit most of her toes off on one foot and part of the toes on the other when she was just a tiny chick in the nest box....but she gets around great we have had to buy a bit smaller cage than whats recommended for CAGs we actually got her one of Cal Cages Renissance cages the Palazzo which has all horizontal bars to make climbing easier for her and she has to have smaller in diameter perches but other than that she climbs like a monkey has no clue she is different...
and she is the only bird in our home that I have allowed to remain fully flighted as it helps her balance we had clipped her once before she came home with us ..but she was still a clumsy baby and had not toes to grip with so to speak she fell alot and would break wing feathers and in turn those would bother her so she would chew on them..so we decided for her saftey to let her keep her flight feathers and since them she has not chewed on them once, I have a flight suit for her so if she goes outside she is in her flight suit or in a carrier...and she has never tried to fly in the house..little pig is to heavy bodied to get any altitude she is not over weight but she does eat like a pig..lol

Awwww she's adorable!!! It's a good thing she was saved when her toes were bit off. That poor little baby chick. How does she do overall with getting around? Does she have any restriction trying to climb the cage or perches?
She grew into a beautiful bird!!!!
:thanx: for sharing her story!

ya know.....Gracie's name fits her quite well ;) She is very adorable, and thanks to you for providing a good home where she can still be a normal Grey, even w/a few toes missing.
It takes one special person to take on any animal that is special needs
More pics?? :p

Gracie will be 2 years old this summer...so yes techically she is still a youngster. The story of how I decided to get her is funny I had actually decided to get her I had already committed to our mini macaw at that same time so they came home not far apart both on 2 feedings a day.
When the gal I work for picked them up from her breeder friend who had told her toes are missing on both chicks I got to see them the first time the next morning at work I just fell in love both were doing that grey growl and one was shaking I picked up the one that was shaking and cuddled her under my chin and she stopped her clutchmates toes were not as bad as hers he would have an easier time in life using them.
Anyway while I was helping handfeeding all the babies I made the comment I should take the toeless grey home since it would be hard to place not thinking about 2 days later the gal I work came down stairs where I was washing water dishes and asked me if I was serious about the grey..caught me off guard as 2 days before I was just talking nothing serious..Anyway she told if I was I had better pick the one I want as a friend of hers was coming over to let her daughter pick out to pick on..well I chose the one with least amount of toes that I had held before the one that was growling and shaking...I called hubby on his cell phone and informed him we now had an African grey and used the excues "Happy Early Birthday??..."...lol needless to say I can use that excuse again..lol
As for her Toes the odd thing is the the breeder she came from the parents did this to two clutches the one gracie was from and the one after her....then this year they rasied a clutch of chicks no toe missing nothing all perfect babies, breeder does not know what happened but something caused it and usually when parents start that they don't stop and will do this to clutch after clucth but for some reason now they quit he had t hem vet checked and everything their blood work showed no sign of illness or vitamin deficiency nothing everything was perfect.

She does great she climbs all over her cage like a monkey except for some reason she still crashes once in a while but thats ok and recently she has been trying to hang upsided down by her toes from the top of her cage inside..poor baby does not have enough toes to do that with...but she still tries. We got her the the Palazzo California cage which is considered a amazon cage not normal cage you would put a grey in and the it's part of cal cages renisssance line so it has all horizontal bars for easy climbing..the perches we use are the latex My pet perches that are rubber and we got the smaller bird size so she has a good grip she also seems to do well on small in diameter cotton rope perches.
I will have to get a picture of her in her cage..sometime this weekend when I get a chance.

It's so nice that you overlooked her imperfections:D . I see so many ads from breeders with discounted prices because a nail is missing. My Pionus is missing half of one of her toes too. We didn't even notice right away. I wonder why parents do that to their babies. She's very sweet!!!!!

I think I'm in love. What a sweet bird. Just melted my heart.
Sadenna, she is so lucky to have you. Not everyone would think to do what you have to make her life as comfortable as you have. I think that is great. She is just as whole as any bird just needs a little extra help and careful planning.
:thanx: for sharing her with us.
