I wanted too give you all the update news on my Conure. He is a Green Cheek Conure, we named him Sarg. He was so hand shy. My Husband worked with him for a little over two weeks, hand feeding him, holding him only when Sarg wanted too be held. This is crazy but true. How my Husband got Sarg through hating his back touched was he would put his lips on his back and blow warm air on it. It worked.

Sarg is so-so loving. We have his full trust, he loves too hang out with me everyday. He is jealious of the phone, when i'm on it he bites it........LOL. He loves too sit outside with me, we watch the birds, bugs, ect. I talk too him all the time. He talks very well, i have always wanted a Grey but Sarg has changed my mind. I more than happy with him:heart:

Here are all the things Sarg can say:
1. Momma
2. Richard
3. What are you doing?
4. Bad Cat
5. Don't do that
6. Good night
7. Thank you
8. And he laughs with us

When he talks the most is when i'm blow drying my hair, or when water is running. I have him with me alot, i work with him all the time. He is amazing and very well LOVED!!!

Isn't that interesting. Blowing warm air on his back. That is a great tip for a bird that doesn't like to be rubbed on their back.

My wife works with a lady who has a female Harlequin Macaw that won't let her put her hand on her back. I'll tell her and see what happens.

What a wonderful success story! You know, I often blow warm air on our birds... they smell so good and sometimes I blow through the feathers on their necks or backs and they seem to love it. I haven't tried it with Play-Doh -- I can't get anywhere near him or he'll take me apart! He has eyes only for Steve! (he's a Senegal)

That is wonderful progress. It's amazing how our parrots like us to blow warm air on them.

Elvie loves it when I blow hot air on his feathers too.

Tracie that is great news, Bucc also loves warm air blown on his back and neck, when he has had enough he will touch my lips with his beak (closed beak) but won't move until I have stopped blowing. lol

Sarg sound like a real love bunny and a proper character, do you have some pics you could share. I love hearing a bird laughing with us so I'm real pleased that sarg will laugh along with you. It will brighten up any day when you hear that.

Glad to hear the great news!

It takes time and patience to work birds especially ones who have been abused.
Missy our female Sun Conure, came from an abusive home and she is just now starting to step up for us with out fiercely attacking our hands and we have had her for 10 months now.

Three of my five like warm air blown on them, but my Greys hate it! It sends them into a panic preen session. Not a long one, but enough to let me know they don't appreciate that at all :rotflmao:
