This is one crazy story, but it turned out too be ok!

My Husband bought home a beautiful LoveBird. My Son and I named him SunnyBuck. I love all birds, but what i love about the LoveBirds are, they are so funny! They look around like " who did that?" they have tons of energy, and so loveable. So i decided i wanted too breed Sunny, so i paired him up. I really thought i had two males, or two females. After the whole nine yards of letting them get too know each other, putting them in the same cage, than seeing how much they cared for each other, i wasn't going too split them apart if they was the same sex. I put the breeders box on the outside of their cage, but they never touched it. I let it there because my Husband cut four wires so if anything did happen they could go in and out of the breedersbox, but we would be able to lift the top on the out. ( like you all don't know all this )..........lol

One day i'm up in the Kitchen, my Husband calls me down, and their they are going in and out of the box. I was so happy! but still didn't know if i had a male and female. The Lady i delt with, she just had me so confuessed.

Well i named the female Bunny. Sunny and Bunny, hey i thought it was cute! Well Sunny is the female, and Bunny is the male. After building their nest, Sunny had five eggs, one every other day. I have two that has hatched, the first baby is five days old,and the second is three days old. I also have an egg missing ? and two that i'm hoping are fertile. So all is going well, other than i call the Mother a boy, and the Father a girl............

I'm working with a guy name Greg who has rasied birds for over twenty years. He has gotten out of smaller birds, he is more into the big birds. He has his own website, i went too his home. He lives out in the country, he has a nice home!, but the home he has for his birds is unbelieveable, it's huge, neat, clean, their is a seperate room for the babbies when he pulls them and hand feeds them. The next time i go up i'm taking pictures, there is just too much too see. He is teaching me step by step. This guy has his eggs sold before the bird lays them. I'm so happy i found him..

Tracie, that's a wonderful story! I'll bet the others hatch, every other day, probably. And the missing one was probably a bad egg or accidentally broken by one of the parents and they ate it to get rid of it. That's what they'll often do, eat eggs that break or won't hatch.

I'm SO glad you found someone to help you out! That is wonderful! Do be very careful if you choose to handfeed these guys... there's a LOT to be careful of or the act of handfeeding can choke and kill them, or cause crop bacteria/infection, or burn their little delicate crops. Consitency of the food, temp, and feeding technique are all extremely important, and not learned from a book -- get some serious hands-on training a number of times before taking this on by yourself. I want you to experience SUCCESS!!

And... IF you handfeed, you must have a scale and a "brooder" -- a tub w/lid that is safely heated to the correct temp, which will change as the babies grow.

I'd definitely leave them with their parents until their eyes are wide open... the longer fed by their parents, the better off they'll be.

:goodjob: and keep us posted! :emot-danc
