Thanks for the welcome everyone. Shirley you have a great memory. I thought that was last Summer but when I went looking for the thread at TRT it was 2 Summers ago.

I got interested in feeding birds last year when I read an article that said the population of Eastern Bluebirds were declining due to loss of habitat. The article went on to state that we could help by providing nesting sites. My next door neighbor already had bluebird houses so I bought some cedar bluebird boxes and put them up on my property. With some coaxing (mealworms) I soon had a nesting pair of bluebirds in one of my boxes. They produced four eggs and as far as I can tell all of them survived. Throughout the rest of the summer my feeder had adult and juvenile bluebirds feeding on it.

So far this year my neighbor has a nesting pair in one of her boxes and I have a pair checking out one of mine but so far none in my boxes yet. Here is a pic of the eggs from last year.

Thanks, Rick! Those eggs are SO pretty!

But didn't you have some birds nest in your truck grill? Birds that weren't your blue birds?

I found it!!

Carolina Wrens in your Isuzu pickup truck!

And then I think you left it parked and they eventually fledged! But first they were driven to a ball game, unharmed! :agree:

That's it Shirley. Carolina Wrens have to be the friendliest wild birds there are. I did take them for a ride before I knew they were there. Fortunately they survived ok and went on to fledge. I had to leave the truck parked for two weeks. I have also had them nest in a box right beside the kitchen door in the garage. That door is used dozens of times a day but the Mom would sit in the nest with her eggs and just look at us as we walked by just a couple feet away. I have many Wrens on my feeders so I'm sure I'll have some interesting nesting pics of them this year.

Of course i will!:agree: The nest just got constructed, no signs of eggs currently, but i plan on doing some yardwork in the area in front of the house today, we'll see if i get "divebombed" then i'll know:eek: ,,I can quickly jump on a ladder and take some pics on the hopefully soon to be eggs, without bothering the parents too much.
But i think the best part is, i can spy on the lil ones when they start to pop above the nest at feeding time, without intruding too much , from the comfort/seclusion of the inside of the bay window,,,;)
Don't worry pics will be showing up here,,along with ones of my "flock" here feathered/furred/ and finned! LOL
Luckily Shirley helped me with getting the dig pics down to a size to post on TRT and here, so i really don't have a excuse to do so,,,

And on that note of outside birds,,living where i do , i have a wonderful area to see and hear loads of wild birds, I live only a few miles from the largest stopover area for Sand Hill cranes in the country, and see them all around the fields nearby also. Eagles, hawks , turkey vultures, wood peckers, ducks.geese, herons, cardinals, owls, hummingb irds(would luv to get some pics of those near our Trumpet vines)robins, jays, grackles, sparrows (barn and others)i have a squadron of them in the summer when i mow the grass in the field here,,some get SO close me and the mower! LOL, looking for critters i scare up by mowing. And many. many, other birds around here, in fairly quiet rural settings,,
even have pheasants and roosters calling /carrying on ,at the neighbors land,,
just love to stand quietly in the morning and listen to all the assorted birds calling in the new day,,
Also the chaos that starts when doves sit on the front deck railing, outside the bird room window, causing the parrots to "give those birds HECK" :funny:
Rick , i remember your time with those "truck birds", i woulda done the same thing,,,(leave the truck alone til they were fledged)
