View Full Version : Lineolated Parakeets
Hello All,
After a lot of research, I have decided that I would like to try and find a little lineolated parakeet as a friend for my CAG 'Sonic'.
The only problem I have now is finding a breeder in the UK that will be willing to hand rear me one. I have found quite a few breeders that are not too far from where I live but none of them hand rear their young birds  .
Although at present I am not in any hurry for one, I was wondering if anyone reads this and is in the UK and knows anyone that hand rears young linnys, please please could they contact me.
Many thanks in advance :thanx:

Hi Ang,
I have a pair of Linnies and they are lovely little birds, small but with very big personalities.
We have (totally by chance) a male and a female  and even though I've never intended for them to be a breeding pair what can one do. Watch this space.

What does Bucc, your grey, think of them? Since she's getting a companion for a grey... I ask.
Holly couldn't care less about the existance of our Bourke's parakeets.
But... if you are going to enjoy them regardless, not a problem. They sure are pretty birds! Holly imitates the male Bourke's call, but that's the extent of it.

had a cobalt linnie. male that was not hand fed. i could handle him once he was out of his cage but otherwise he was all BEAK. he tried to take on my green cheek conure, almost lost his beak... it took months for it to heal and the 'scar' was still there when i sold him to a breeder. so i would always suggest getting a hand fed linnie, they seem to be a lot more even tempered.

Shirley, Bucc doesn't take any notice of them at all, except for when its their turn out of cage, then he sits and glares at them all, As they have the nerve to go on his playstand and his playarea:funny:
When we've had a break out and the linnies are the ones out (when Bucc is out) he will sit and watch them but has never made an attempt to fly over to them, (yet) probably as they are just so quick.
Unfortunately Jim, over here its very hard to find a hand reared one, :shrug2: Breeders just don't seem to do it with Linnies, I'm sure there must be some somewhere. My two are really lovely I've never had a problem with them being biters in the cage or out which is nice. Bluey will scream the house down when we are about to cut her nails. It really shocked me how loud she can be. lol
Thank you for reply Peta, I hope you have received my message, if not please let me know and I will try again.
It seems to me that a lot of people in tend to have these little birds but only in aviaries.
This to me is a real shame, they seem like you all say 'little birds with very big personalities' .

Hi Peta,
Your little birds look so cute, they look as if they are enjoying their soaking too :).
Oh I do hope they have little ones. and If you would be prepared to hand rear me one it would be wonderful.
Thank you so very much. :)
