I had to take a lab and a collie to the airport this morning at 5:00 am. I was back home and heard Sharon get up at 6:30. She said the boys were fine they didn't even take their heads out of their wing. Ah! I'll go get a photo of them.:) Well when they hear dad in the morning and by the time I got the camera adjusted this is what I got. Not very good, the flash washed out Nino.

As ever the boys are beautiful I do love that picture.

Jim, do you have lots of playstands (I know thats not what they are, but it sounds better than poop station) or is it just the two that you move from room to room?

Thanks everyone

Dr C. - Oh a kiss from a vet... They both said they want to come over there for the next check-up.:)

Yes Brandy they sleep in our bedroom. I bet you look just fine when you wake up.

Peta, I have 5 of those PVC perches, 2 are the eating/drinking ones you've seen, these two and one in the family room. Also a couple I keep in the basement I take when we're going to be out for a long time.

Jean, Thanks... I think it's a 2 way street. I'm fortunate  to have them in my life.

Barb, Not sure who is bunking with who. They go night night at dark so it may be that they let us bunk with them.:D Thanks, I think it's kinda' cool too. Makes it nice to wake up with them landing on you or waking up and seeing them down there with their head in their wing.

Thanks Sue

Jim that is cool. I didn't know they slept with you in the bedroom. Do you only use their cages when you are both going to bo out of the house for a while? Do they fly back to their cages durring the day just to hang out? Oh also ..... you said they go to bed when it gets dark, do they wake up when you come in there to go to bed? Taco is a real light sleeper.

You have two special guys there.

Give them a kiss from me.

Hi Ginny

They stay in their room un caged when we're not home. Best I remember I caged them for a couple hours one day when Teo was around a year old and feeling his oats. Heard them fussing and when I went in I saw Nino had had just about enough. Watched and worked with them for a couple days and haven't had to cage them since. Yes, when they want back in the room they fly to the stairs or up to the rail. I don't let them come and go out of the room. I trust them but not that much, I take them in and close the door when they're in the room.

We try to be quiet when we go to bed but yes they wake up a little and do the, I can't type it but you know the little 'gahhh' noise macaws make when they're tired. I say softly 'love you' a couple times while they 'gahhh' and they are right back to sleep. They don't wake up when we roll over or if we get up as long as we're easy about it.

They'll get a kiss from you first thing in the morning.

Just remembered I owe you an email response.

thats awesome Jim

Ive actually been thinking about putting a little PVC stand on my night table for Milly,,,shes been the BIGGEST lovie lately, she cannot get enough snuggles and scritches and she cuddles right into my neck,,,2 mths ago i couldnt let her near my face

Milly is oly caged IF and when we go anyplace(maybe once a week if that) she is otherwise out 24/7,,,the ONLY reason i have to cage her when we leave is for her safety,,,I dont know if i would 100% trust the dogs and cats if we werent home, i really dont think they would do anything but better be safe,,if we didnt have other pets then she would stay out

Craig is even talking about putting her cage away,,it takes up to much room and she only uses the top play top,,,we could buy her a nice playgym and keep there instead,,,maybe if we do get a playgym in our bedroom then i can leave her in there when we go out instead of her cage,,,

I think i want her with me at night time though,,,,I love being close to her,,,she does currently sleep in her cage right now, but the door is open,,she used to sleep in her Jolly ball that hangs off the ceiling but right now theres a scary toy hanging up there as well and she wont go near it,,LOL,,so she crawls into her cage on her hoop thing and sleeps,,,its right by the couch and I love laying there at night watching TV and having her close,,its a wonderful feeling!!!

That is so cool, I would love to leave Bucc out 24/7, but with 2 dogs and a cat, that I wouldn't trust 100% its a bit difficult. He seems to be spending a lot of time in his cage lately, but its his choice and the doors are always open so he can come and go as he likes. Bed time and when I go out I have to shut him in. :( As Brandy said better safe than sorry.

That is so cool 5 pvc playstands, Buccs playstand is huge and he never goes on it except for potty, if he wants food & water he goes to his cage. Am gonna have to get my fingers into gear and make a smaller pvc one. :agree:

If I left Toto out when we're not here I wouldn't have a home left to come home to. Strangely enough he doesn't chew furniture but is a bit partial to door frames. Here's what happened when he was helping Dave cook dinner, I was in the shower and he took his eye off him for a minute, second pic is of the doorframe:roflmao2:

Brandy I think it's nice a makes for a special relationship but I feel I need to say it's a personal choice that has risks just like having a flighted bird.

Here's some suggestion and things I did to help with the risk factor. The boy's are flighted as you know but this may help you with a plan. The boy's fly like we walk, I mean they aren't thinking about how to stay in the air, they are thinking about were to go and avoid dangers. Had to get that out of the way because I believe it eliminated some risks for me that you may want to consider. Not the flighted part but what could happen if startled.

I thought of the bedroom as a big cage and basically helped them learn what to do by putting them places like on the floor and so forth to figure out how to get to a safe place or where they wanted to be. You get the picture I'm sure. Now I feel just as comfortable, actually more comfortable, with them in the bedroom (the big cage) as they have plenty of room so aren't trashing around in less area if startled. I kept a night light on at first too, don't now tho.

They have only left their perch a few times. Once I found them both on the bed standing on the pillows. That was 3 years ago I believe on 4th of July. (fire works). And a few times on top of the curtain rod.

As I said, I think it's great. I'm here if you think of something so feel free to ask and we can both express ideas.

Sue, I do love that picture, and how could you ever think that Toto would do sommat like that!!!!! :roflmao2: Just look at that cute face peering round the door. :funny:

He certainly did do a good job.

If Bucc were here alone, the first thing to go would be the curtains :agree: and then as he knows its wrong he would sit there saying Bucc good boy, noooooooooooo lol.

  Thats so funny "good boy noooo" I love it!

Toto isn't too interested in curtains, he ever so gently lifts them up to see whats the other side now and again.

A LONG time ago Dave's mum looked after him for us and we positioned his cage where he couldn't reach anything, someone moved the cage and you guessed it, he dragged a curtain into the cage, enjoyed a good chew and by the time she spotted him there was a 12ins hole in the curtain:roflmao2: :roflmao2: :roflmao2:

She was really good and wouldn't let us pay for new ones:wub:

Wow Jim that is so cool. They are such GREAT boys.
Yes I know that noise they make well. If we wake Taco up she wispers her name over a couple of times and we say it back to her and then she goes back to sleep.
Oh don't worry about the email just when ever.
