:) Hello everyone, I am new here and just thought I would say hello. Introduce myself and Mercedes (Merc for short). My name is Carol, and Merc is a female African grey. I have always wanted an Grey, but could never afford them. Well, I can now. So I adopted her from a very well known breeder in St. Charles Missouri. Merc is wonderful. The day she was old enough to come home with me, she was already speaking. Her first phrase was, "Whatcha doing?" She now has 17 or more vocabulary. Some new phrases this week, but I haven't figured them out yet. She loves to talk and eat peanuts. She loves to take a bath in her water dish, but hates standing on her perch in the shower with me. She loves me, but doesn't want anyone else to come near her. My 2 older sons have been working with her, but they are impatient and aren't around enough to make a difference. She is not quite a year yet. But she is the love of my life. And she knows it. I have pics, but they are all on paperback, so I need to get them scanned. Thanks for letting me join the fun.

Your Grey sounds a lot like Holly regarding her liking you and not allowing others to pet her. Holly steps up for practically everyone, though.
