What do you guys feed your greys? Patricia tells me my new baby, "Grey" is mostly a table food eater and especially loves meat. He's supposed to be 16 years old.

All our birds get Chinaprairie.com Psittacine sprouts daily, Goldenfeast Hookbill Legume daily, and thawed frozen corn, peas, and fresh grated carrots daily or every other day. From the garden, they get occasional spinach and leaf lettuce.
They also get what we eat, raw or baked or steamed, and always unsalted: Broccoli, squash, sweet potato, asparagus, chicken thigh and leg bones (love to chew them) and cooked chicken meat when we have chicken.
No supplements, and no pellets. They used to eat Roudybush pellets.
Baby Sammie is just beginning to taste food, and so far, gets stage 2 and 3 baby food in his Roudybush baby bird formula (mixed veggies, strained chicken, squash, green beans) and he is tasting and beginning to eat the sprouts and the thawed frozen veggies described above.
Fruit: a slice of apple, whatever is in season on a small scale, and dried banana chips (for birds, no additives). There's also dried fruit in their hookbill Legume mix.
sometimes wheat bread, rice, and whatever else we eat that is good for them.

Milabeana gets Harrisons High Potency as her pellets, she also gets Goldenfeast Gourmet foods as a treat

She loves the Mama Birds birdie bread
she eats everything we do as long as its good for her, she has all fruits and veggies, but I normally dont cook her any special ones, she gets what I feed the kids type thing, also she does get chicken bones to chomp on every once ina while and she does love cooked chicken, you have to make sure its super cooked before giving it though
Milly also loves eggs, sometimes I put some of her favorite veggies in with her scrambled eggs or put some different peppers, etc in with it, but once again the egg has to be nice and good and cooked

My two greys are extremely picky eaters:( They have Lafeber's Nutri-berries for a staple then they eat scambled/hardboiled eggs, broccoli, what ever we eat as long as it is good for them. They really enjoy cooked chicken, very well done beef and chicken bones. They eat whole grain rice, beans, and snap peas. They also really like apples, grapes and an occasional strawberry;) But when it comes to fruit all the birds favor pomegrante the most (too bad it is just seasonal), I usually buy the juice in the off season.

My Sammie likes raw, unsalted walnuts and pecans. Blueberries, depending on what her mood is that day and she really likes brussel sprouts but they can stink! She's also crazy about pomegranet or however you spell it but it can stain so be careful where you feed it to her.

Oh yes, raw snap beans, Chinese pea pods, corn on the cob uncooked in season (or cooked if left overs), scrambled egg or hard-boiled chopped w/shell, and Pomegranites in season... but beware the juice getting on the walls and floor! Also, apple slices for breakfast is a tradition.
Once you start sprouting with the EasySprout (C) sprout kit, you'll wonder what took you so long to start... it's SO nutritious compared to dry seeds/grains, and so easy to do. All our birds get sprouts, from Bourke's 'keets to large parrots.

Sammie likes apples too (no seeds tho) but for some strange reason, she has to kill apples. She drowns them and stands on top of them in her water bowl until they are "dead" and then she'll eat part of them but sling the rest while yelling at them.:help: What a huge mess! I'm convinced she's mental. :agree:

Skyler RB2 only likes apples that Steve is in the process of eating... they share! Play-Doh (Senegal) insists on apple slices every morning. The others just get them and sort of eat them.

If its food Bucc will usually eat it, his veggies I have to dice, (just like I give the little guys, otherwise he thinks they are getting something better than him) He loves eggs, scrambled hard boiled, all mashed up with the shell, he's not a great lover of fruit, unless he thinks he's getting something he's not supposed to get, so that is always left on a table lol (I've outwitted the Grey :rotflmao: ) He loves a nice chicken leg with bone to chomp on. (I watch him eat that then think, you expect me to put my finger in your cage  lol) mashed potato, rice, pasta. The food he loves best of all (and he doesn't even care if its good for him or not) is mine,
One day to go Rebecca, bet your getting really excited. I'm getting excited for you, can't wait to see his pics.

Thanks, people. These are great posts! :goodjob: I will wait until I talk more with Patricia when she brings him Sunday before ordering anything. I'll get him some fruits when I go grocery shopping this morning.
If I do order the sprouting starter kit, what size mix will work for the tiel, the lovie, and Grey?

I used to get "little bird" sprouts as well as Psittacine sprouts. Now I just get Psittacine and everyone eats them. I leave the large garbonzo (?) beans for the big birds, though... just pick them out.
Order the EasySprout sprouter from sproutpeople.com ... it's amazing, doesn't give you mold, just an awesome easy thing to use.
I have links and step-by-step photos in the Practical Links and Elements of Bird Care forums.

My Grey's eat most everything offered to them. They eat fresh and frozen veggies, fresh and dried fruits. Their favorite nut is a almond and will do anything to get one. I feed my CAG Zupreem Natural pellets and the TAG will only eat the Zupreem Fruit. They get chicken and egg but aren't that fond of the egg.
As a treat they get some Higgins Celestial Mix that I give my Macaw and Too.
